I like the old Remington 700 triggers, once I've set them to my preference. The Jewel on my M-700 target rifle is too much of a good thing if I've been shooting my hunting rifles prior to using it. Unless I make firm contact with the side of the trigger first, its gone, and if my fingers are cold, forget it. I guess the trigger/action that I like best on a hunting rifle that I currently own, is that of my ZG-47, it just feels right. Its sometimes said that the Krag had the smoothest action of all, but I'm here to tell you, I own a 6.5 Krag, and it's not even close to my M-54 Winchester in .270. That is the slickest bolt I've ever had the pleasure of cycling, even if the trigger is decidedly ho-hum.. The trigger and bolt on my SAKO L-461 while quite good, is not extraordinary. I had a Tikka Continental at one time, beautiful rifle, but the trigger was creepy, and it was adjustable for weight but not sear engagement, so it went. My vote for the all time best trigger/action combination on a hunting rifle probably goes to an original Rigby Magnum Mauser, with the pre-64 M-70 Winchester a close runner up, for a small fraction of the price. I have no experience with the Kimber line, but it seems that is in need of change.
