Your bullet and weight of choice in .243 and .270 win on deer please?

In the .270 have tried almost all 130gr btsp,as of late have been using nosler accubonds, but i just recently bought a bunch off different brands of 130 and 150 gr bullets,so its back to load development. In the .243 we have used a wide variety of 100 gr btsp bullets with great success,in my opinion what ever happens to be available for the .243 works for me in 100 gr.The .243 is a very easy gun to reload for don't have to be too finnicky. Also as a bonus we where using win 760 powder in both, nice powder to use as it meters nicely through powder measure.

In my 243 I hand load 95 grn.Nosler partisans as my BLR is much more accurate with them. When I carried a 270 I hand load 160 grn for Nosler partisans for everything.I found that 130 grn.left too big aan exit wound.

42.0g IMR4350
.900" out of the wife's axis at 100yrds
6" groups @ 400yrds.

Didn't get to stick one in a deer. But it flat out hammered a yote in the shoulders.
Bullet held tougher great.

What is your barrel twist? The reason I ask is you will need a 1/9" twist to stabilize the 100 grainers, anything slower and you will need to go with a lighter bullet.

When I first started hunting deer with the .243 WIN I loaded 100 gr Nosler Partitions and they worked perfectly on deer. These days I use 90 gr Nosler Accubonds or 95 gr Ballistic tips, both are very accurate in my current .243 Weatherby Vanguard 2 and kill deer quite well.

My only experience with the .270 WIN was with 130 gr Nosler Ballistic tips on deer which worked just fine, hopefully Jack O Conner will not be rolling over in his grave but I have not owned one for 20 years! If I own another one I would most likely load a 140 gr Nosler Accubond just in case I needed to use it on elk or moose as well as deer.

Actually a 1-10 twist .243 barrel will stabilize 100 gr bullets just fine! I have even used 105 gr A-Max VLD bullets out of a 10 twist barrel to shoot targets out to 1000 yards but when I tried the 107 gr Sierra Match King it would tumble thru the target with a perfect keyhole!

Definitely not true for any hunting bullet. 100 grains is fine with a 1-10" twist.

Long VLD bullets may not stabilize, but they are not hunting bullets IMHO, anyway.

Even the much maligned 1-12 twist Remington 722 rifles would stabilize some 100 grain Flat Based bullets.

Interesting.

I have a partial box of 105 grain AMAX in front of me, says twist rate 1-9". It was given to me by a friend because they wouldn't stabilize in his 9 1/4" twist rifle.

Yes I know what they say on the box, and nothing is written in stone! They actually were very accurate in my 10 twist 26" barreled Remington .243, also I had a custom barreled 7mm Rem Mag with a 10 twist barrel that shot the 162 A-max`s very well and they are rated for a faster twist as well! In my case the secret was to use max loads and push the bullets as fast as you safely could, when it comes to individual barrels you never know what will work for you until you try it!

100 grain 243 bullets in a ten inch twist are iffy.
They will give hunting accuracy, but the 243 rifles I have had, or have, would not group as well with 100 grain bullets as they do, or did, with bullets weighing from 70 grains to 90 grains.
Some 100 grain bullets group better than others with the ten inch twist, indicating the twist rate is very marginal for them.
