Your coyote rigs

This is an old pic, but the rifle still goes with me.

It's an old Browning A-Bolt in 22/250 with a 3x9 B&L. I'm not really crazy about A-Bolts. but this one's a keeper. I've shot many 1/2" groups with this rifle. :D

I use a 25WSSM A-Bolt Varmint Stalker with VXIII 4.5-14 varmint reticle. The only thing not stock is the trigger and the reloads. 85gr B/Ts @3550fps and 110gr A/Bs @3130fps. I really like the .25 cal for it's ability to buck the wind and long range accuracy.

Sounds cool... but weren't the 788's all "short actions"? Will your rifle be a 'single shot' or do you think the 6.5x55mm ctg will feed from the 788 detachable magazine? Reason I ask is that a number of years ago I had a 788 in .30-30 Winchester. Thought I'd have the best of both worlds being able to load the .30-30 ctgs with spitzer bullets. I found that when seated properly in the .30-30 casing the OAL ctg length using spitzer bullets made it too long to feed from the 788 .30-30 magazine. So, I had a nice 788 single shot in .30-30 but she sure was accurate! ;)

If I was more into varminting and lived where there was more groundhogs and coyotes to blast off the farmer's fields, I'd use a custom 222Rem and a 257Roberts. :)

Here's my 'battery' of potentials... ;)

I've shown pics of this rifle before, but this is my Leeper-built M700 223 Ackley. Pac-Nor 24" barrel with Bansner stock, and a Vari-X III 4.5-14X40 A/O matte scope with Premier #4 reticle and M1 elevation turret. It weighs 8 pounds 5 oz all up. My coyote load is the 50 grain V-Max at 3650 fps. If I sit down in good conditions and shoot a 5-shot group at 100 yards larger than 3/8", I KNOW I messed up.

My new one is a Remington 700 VSSF II in a 22-250, will be topped with TPS base and rings holding a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x40mm. Also have Williams bottom metal otw for it and a tubb firing pin/spring.

Custom built Mauser 1909 Argentine in 6mm Rem. VX II 3-4x40
55gr Nosler at 4010fps. I've never shot a load like this before and it is hard to get used to aiming low even at 300 yards! It is only 2" high at 100.
Got one on boxing this year too, the whole family in the house behind watching and cheering when I dumped one on the run at 310.:D Classic Christmas supper! :D

I've heard talk of a wolf hunt this year and to that end I've picked this as my dog rig. 7mm wthby L61R action 26" barrel VX II 3-9. Makes very nice groups @ 200 yds with hot 139 interbonds.
