Your favorite mini 14 stock

I think the mini 14 look best in a wood stock with wood handguard. I would like to have a nice walnut stock like this one:

But I am still happy with the old factory birch stock. I ebonised and oiled it:

ebonised?

I thought about trying the Hogue overmold...does the Hogue stock add much weight? I also heard that dirt likes to stick to it.

the Hogue stocks are very light, lighter than the stock.... stock.
and yes sand such likes to cling to them because they are kinda squishy like.
but its not that bad, i take mine out and it gets dirty, i give it a quick brush off with my hand and its fine.
its not like you have to take a damp cloth to it or sponge it down after every use or anything like that.

Are you sure?? I haven’t weighed them myself but found this on Perfect Union:

Choate classic mag with mag well stiffener and forearm liner 1lb 14oz (30 oz)(LOP=13 3/4)

was just something i noted when i switched my stock out, it seemed a lot lighter.
i suppose i could pop the stock off and weigh it myself.
but it definitely seems lighter to me, probably just because it feels nicer, im kinda easy like that.

I’d been thinking about the Hogue stock but when I saw that thread I decided to stick with the factory synthetic. Then again, it’s only 6oz heavier if those specs are accurate.

I have both the BC stainless folder and ATI stocks. The ATI is big and bulky but otherwise ok for the range. I swapped it out for the original synthetic stock which I really sort of like. My other mini sits in the BC stock which is surprisingly solid and comfortable to shoot with.

My dad had a Stainless mini 30 in a stainless Butler Creek folding stock. This pic reminds me of it. He had a stainless scope and Mags. He told me it was gonna be mine one day. I actually cried when he sold it. I was 12 at the time and I’v had my eye out for many years for it!

I also felt that the Hogue stock was lighter than wood or the factory hard synthetic. Is it possible the anal-obsessive guy who put that table together might have made a mistake? :) I don't know if he had all those stocks on hand to weigh (wow...) or if he scoured the internet for all those statistics and then compiled them (just...wow...), but it would be easy for a typo or incorrect measurement to creep in there.

In any case, the difference in weight is not a large one, whether higher or lower. The increased comfort level of the Hogue stock is immeasurable but IMHO it makes it well worth swapping out for a Hogue.
