Your favorite moose hunting tactic.

I like to call a bull in then wait, let everything go silent for about 10 minutes, then softly cow call directly in to the ground......as he grunts and comes closer, if he is not a big one, I will bull call right at him......he either comes running in or takes off like a jet........
 
I still prefer walking a likely area and posting [stand] in a place that displays evidence of Moose activity. I do still-hunt logging slashes a lot these days, since the visibility is so much better. I usually get there before daylight, and wait in one spot while daylight breaks, using my binoculars to scan areas that look "Moosey" I have seen a lot of animals this way, including the one I shot last year. This years was also taken in a big slash, but in the evening. He got caught trying to cross that slash, and I was able to identify him as an immature bull,[two points or less on one side] which is the only ones we can take in this area without a draw. well i,ll chime in here of something i learned this year....get one of them new electronic moose calls.....i cant remember the name of it but it worked out great
it was a call,with about 6 different grunt call,s
when moosetrapper gets out of the bush in the next week or so...i,ll get the name of it from him
think he said he spent 29.95 to buy it :D ...but it sure brought the moose out to us

Electronic calls are illegal for big game hunting in several provinces.
