Of the 7 that you list, I've owned 6 in the past and currently own 4 from that list...Remington, Winchester, Savage and Tikka. My vote went to Savage because they function as well as any of the others, are affordable and shoot like nothing else :)

It depends on the price range, but I really like my Sako. For a lot less money I think my Tikka shoots just as well. I also like Remingtons, other than their triggers always needs some work to go from lawyer proof to acceptable.

Savage all the way. Sure they don't look nice, but out of the box they have one of the best triggers (still like the CZ set trigger), and shoot better than most of the people behind them.

I have a soft spot for the Remington 700 as well. Beautiful rifle, proven design, and still affordable.

For the price of a Sako, or Weatherby, I think I would much rather build a custom rifle off a Mauser, Remington, or Savage Action.

Just my $0.02

I voted ruger, but savage pulls a close second to me. I know my rugers wont fail me, never have problems feeding, and are plenty accurate to hunt with. SAvage gets the second because they too are fairly reliable, but i have had feeding problems in a couple (maybe the new mag style has changed that). They too are accurate, and if you get bored a new barrel is cheaper than a new gun.

Ruger, CZ, Zastava (aka Remington 798), Winchester

CZ might well have been my choice, I have more bolt action CZ's and one break action, than all the others I've listed in the poll. I just saw CZ as a little too niche for this poll. Ruger's definitely my favorite of the big guys, then Winchester.

Winchester rifles fit me perfectly right out of the box. Rugers run a close second.

I agree, no out of the box hunting rifle's length of pull and stock profile fit me as well as a Winchester Model 70.

I voted for Ruger. The model 77 Mark II I just bought is well made, accurate and good looking. And I really like the receiver integral scope base and ring design. I think my next rifle will be another Ruger.

I am surprise Savage is that popular.
I will vote for Remington, and second Tikka.
You can not put Sako in that group, it is next class up.

My choice is decided by who makes a decent leftie. I will go Ruger on that score. Others do make them but they seem to be made of unobtanium. I have a Savage 99c that I am very fond of but then again it is not a bolt.
