Your Favorite Tactical Shotty?

I love my Benelli M4.

Pros:
-Very reliable, solid feeling gun all around.
-Stays clean and doesn't require much maintenance
-3" chamber and ghost loading allows for 8 rounds in the gun legally
-Soft shooting which allows for fast follow up shots and easier shooting with slugs. I can keep a few casings in the air with it.
-Can shoot a wide variety of loads. Very reliable with #8 target loads
-C-stock makes for a compact weapon when collapsed
-Finish on it is really great. Resists scratches and rust very well

Cons:
-Costs $2100
-Heavier than an M2
-Needs an expensive aftermarket tube extension to bring it to its full potential capacity
-Both the factory fixed and C-stock have quite a long LOP. Mesa Tactical makes a shorter one but its not collapsible.
-It is "modular" but there are a limited amount of accessories available. The easiest parts to install are universal things like Velcro side saddles and barrel clamps.

Comments:
I love this gun. It was expensive but is dependable. It's neat to have the same shotgun the USMC uses. I use it for 3 Gun and I like it for that. I wish it was a bit more customizable but it's pretty decent right out of the box. I added a side saddle, enlarged bolt handle, and clamped a flashlight right onto the mag tube with a $10 clamp.

I hunt birds and shoot clays with it and while it wasn't designed for these things it works okay. The cost probably means you don't want to beat the gun up but the finish is very durable.

I would recommend this gun. It's fun and in my opinion worth the hefty price tag but I just use mine as a toy.

Well my experience with Shotguns is limited only to pumps and only Ithaca 37s, Remington 870s, Mossbergs, Mavericks, and Grizzlys.

Like the safety on Mossbergs, like the bottom extraction of Ithacas, Mavericks reminded me of a cheap Mossberg, Remington liked the quality, Grizzly liked the cost and machined receiver.

So after 30 years of using 12 gauge pumps what did I keep, the Grizzly tube fed(flame on).

Why, its tough as nails and never fails.

What did I do, full polish of all the moving parts, Hogue 12" stock, new sling, aluminum fore end.

I have lots of experiences with all kinds of Remmies and frankly I like the Grizzly more because of the 12.5" barrel option and cost.

So go to the range try a few out as what people post will be nothing more than biased opinions.......

I usually just use the ghost rings, put this Aimpoint for fun.

pro: 3" chamber, threadable chokes, ghost ring/fiber optic sights, top rail, lightweight, comfortable/ergonomic. SMOOTH ACTION

Con: Not that many aftermarket parts.

Depending on what you call <tactical>...

But for sh!t and giggles, the 8" Grizzly are hard to beat ;)

Mossberg 590a1, tough as hell, 8+1, tang safety, front heavy but that's because it's a war machine. Marines use it? LOP could be a little shorter. (Magpul stock fixes that.) did I mention you can attach a bayonet? Ya it's awesome...

Yes, essentially the same gun as my Escort MP which has all the same traits that you mentioned.

Benelli Supernova Tactical with the 14" barrel and collapsible stock. If you want the full length stock, you have the option of a pistol grip. Pump action, 12 Gauge, feeds 2 3/4, 3", and 3.5" shells. Only bad thing is it doesn't come ready for chokes from the factory.

Benelli Supernova for me..... Yes, I'm still in the honeymoon stage with the piece but 500+ rounds and it's only getting slicker. I have my Dads 60's cut down Wingmaster and I love the look and sentimental value but for performance the 14" barrel Super takes the match.....
Got some goodies for it when I get home, to make me feel better about not springing for the M4 ..... Ah well, there is always next year...View attachment 14373View attachment 14374

Is there anyway to mount a light on that? I wouldn't mind having a quality, handy sized shotgun for checking livestock at night but it would need a solid light.

speedjunkiesracing that collection looks awesome!
