MAKE:
Remington 887 Nitro Mag Tactical
PRO:
It takes 3 1/2" loads, exterior never rusts because of the Remington armor. 7+1 with 2 3/4" shells is nice. and it has a 18 1/2" barrel with a tactical rem choke, so you can just change the choke as you want. It also has a rail and iron sights with a fiber front, so you can go to town. Replacement parts are easy to get, just get them off Remington country. It has a super cell recoil pad, so for people who complain about recoil, they can expect up to a 54% reduction. Includes sling swivel studs. Has a forward mounted rail for all you flashlight freaks. Comes in a "zombie edition" if that floats your boat.
CON:
Almost zero aftermarket parts... Yea, that's all I've got for the moment.
COMMENTS:
I have a buddy of mine that owns 6 rem 870's, 2 moss 590's and one rem 887. Pardon my language, but he hammers the $hit out of his guns. On top of that his idea of a cleaning is wiping down the exterior with a rag and WD40. I have had to fix the 870 so many times, I lost count. He just stopped using the 590 after they stopped working once. The only thing that has taken his beatings is the 887. This is the type of guy that buys 1000 rounds a week shooting about 3 1/2 rounds a second, and uses them all in that same week. He bought the standard hunting model, but its tough as hell if it can survive him.
The same friend loaned me his 887, and I love it. It feels nice in my hands, and sits perfectly with me. I just bought a 887 Tactical off Frontier Firearms (was on sale) and that will be my go to with slugs. I have a nice Trijicon red dot I plan on attaching to it. I don't need it to be fancy or cool, I only need it to be affordable, and reliable. A great slug gun. I'm not saying its the best, but for the price, its iron-clad. If you are looking for a tactical style gun, have a look!
