Your favourite 22LR detachable rifle magazines?

If y'all like the Ruger 10/22 mags you should check out the Winchester Wildcat. They are the basically the same but with the addition of a last round hold open.

I'm also a fan of the Marlin 795 mags. I'm not sure I've ever had an issue with the factory ones, and once I cleaned my guns the 25rd pro mags work flawlessly as well.

Out of all I have owned, CZ followed by Savage Mk2 (sorry Jerry, they are cheap and never had one not work). CZ either in plastic or steel, 5 round or 10, beautiful magazines. Affordable too. Never been a fan of the 10/22 platform or the magazine's, so take that for what it's worth.

Years back.. the mkII mags were very nice. I got a few new ones when I started PRS rimfire in 2018... these ones literally fell apart as the staking was poorly done... one mag didn't have enough material in a couple of spots to even stake. I was going to tack weld them but my welder friend suggested material too thin (I have on idea). Love the rifle... hate these new manf mags.

And with Savage QC... YMMV. Same goes for the extraction problems... but they will quickly send you a fix it kit so why not just fix it at the factory?

For the Wildcat, if you take out the mag, does it still hold open? a true hold open vs a mag block.

Does the final shot stay in the group? wondering if the different recoil impulse can affect the grouping downrange.

For your first question, Yes it does. There is a button in front of the trigger guard that allows you to lock the bolt back without a mag as well, and a lever on the left side to release the bolt (or just pull the bolt back if there is no mag or a mag with ammo).

The two long red pieces are an ambi mag release (grab both with your finger tips/thumb and pull back, the mag drips right into your hand, it's pretty slick) and it also has a more standard style release infront of the mag. The red blade infront of the trigger guard is the manual hold back and the little trapezoidal thing above the mag release is the bolt release.

For your second question I dunno. I mostly use it to shoot steel spinners at 25 and 50. The factory front sight is pretty big, too big IMO, that combined with the cheap ammo I've been feeding it (rem golden bullets and Norma tac 22) leaves me without a good answer to its accuracy. I've got a 3-9x40 I'm gonna throw on it next time I'm out, if I remember I'll give an update later.

Suther,

You should try out there CST last shot hold open. They are awesome. Need to use their bolt, and trigger adapter, but you can use the standard 10/22 mags.

I had an older Anschutz, the magazines worked without a hitch.
Wish I still had that rifle.

My new, old BRNO, so far they are great no issues at all.

Ruger rimfires, all of them, 17, 22Mag, 22 rimfire all work well, almost.
I have had some issues with a 10/22 with some of the 10 rounds mags I have.
The American's that I have all work great.
My 77/22 seem to work with the proper flat bottom designed for them. Some of the round bottom mags work and some don't. So I stick with the 77/22 flat bottom style.

Had 2 Cooey 64 rifles, they were one of the worst I have had.

No last round hold open for the 10/22, but the wildcat magazines are a breeze to load with their little tension reliever thing.
I'm going to buy more for my 10/22 for that reason. Plus they seem to work as good as the ruger magazines.

My least favourite is probably the pot metal 64 magazines.

Marlin magazines are good. Reliable, durable, easy to load, no sharp edges. Only downside is no flush fit. Thats the only reason I like the 1022 mag.

The Ruger rotary mags work good, but I hate trying to carry a spare in my pocket. I agree with Jerry on the Scorpio bolt action mags too, they're great. The worst ones I've ever had are for my Remington nylon 10C, flimsy plastic with just a tiny metal clip at the back to reinforce them. They work reasonably well, but feel like they're going to fall apart every time I touch them.
