Your favourite alternate mechanism, that is to say non-bolt action.

been looking for bore bore guns all my life and have been luck to have aquired a few, i have a few big bore muzzle loading rifles also this 8 bore is one I like but a little off topic This is the 8 bore with a Thompsen center in 45 guns are about the same size but the bores are different, so I have a 22LR the 45 cal ball and the 8 bore ball for comparision

Bet the smoke is impressive when that 8 bore is touched off. Nothing says dangerous game hunting like putting up 300grs worth of Fg smoke screen between you and the dangerous critter you just shot.

Loosing sight of a buff, before the smoke can dissipate would be.... disconcerting...

Johnn, I will chalk that up to Western water... too high in mercury...
;)

Na. The water out here on ;)the, normally 'wet coast', is about as clean as it comes. I think the high polution content is back east in the higher industrialized area such as Ontario. Further detail on my preferences;
1. Bolt - Schultz & Larsen, models 65DL & 68DL
2. Lever - Winchester, model 71 Deluxe
3. Single - Sharps

I'm a working class man Johnn... eg;

1. Single - Ruger No.1
2. Bolt - Ruger M77 MKII
3. Lever - Good Ole Pre-64 94

Same here:). I however, am getting a little closer to the end of my hunting shooting career. As such, it probably won't be that many more years before I start thinning 'things' out a little. Over the years there've been a few items I found;) I really needed such as the Schultz & Larsens and the Winchester 71. And, there's still a few more years that I plan to 'enjoy' shooting, hunting and 'playing' with them.

I still use my bolts the most but I do love my No.1 RSI and it gets out quite a bit. I also have a couple of breaking combo guns that I use once or twice a year.
