Looking to buy a good bi pod that's not going to break the bank. I'm seeing ones up around the 250-450 range. I have one that was 40 and you defiantly get what you pay for. I want to spend around 75-150. Is this reasonable or should I fork out the cash for something. What are some brands you guys recommend that also have great quality

Cheers

I would never buy anything cheaper than a Harris (with swivel). I have owned several Harris' and Atlas, and you cant beat their quality for the money. Atlas is more specialized (hence why it is on my Stiller).

+1 for Harris

+2 for a Harris.

I've owned my most current Harris Bi-pod for over a decade and IIRC it's adjustable from 6" to 9". I highly recommend getting an adjustable model (allows shooting from most any position/terrain which is nice to have on a Non-restricted rifle).

My Harris bi-pods have always worked well and have mounted up w/o issue on my Ruger 10/22's + SR22 as well as my Just Right Carbine in 9mm and on AR's too. It's my go to unit for a rest, when not shooting from my bags.

They can add a little more weight then children may enjoy holding in a standing unsupported position, but are not to heavy for adults/older teenagers to shoot unsupported (at least for a little while) .
Also they have at least two models of mounting (again IIRC), one mounts to a basic sling mount post (more affordable and lighter version) and a second model which has the ability to mount to a picatinny rail or sling post with only a quick adjustment to the bi-pod.

I think they have at least two adjustable pole lengths (like 6" to 9" and 9" to 12" perhaps), so best to check.

Harris Bi-pod's are great quality (I've owned three, never a failure or issue) and are the original bi-pod design to first be patented if memory serves.

They are getting a little expensive from the days of old (everything seems to be increasing in value except my net income:bangHead:).

However they are one of those products that remind me of a "you get what you pay for" description, but in a positive light, while holding a good re-sale value too.

Cheers D

Harris is ok, if your going to be using it lots i would spend the extra and go with an atlas. I have both. Atlas has amazing customer service and i much prefer it. I bought one used and broke it, my fault completely, i contacted atlas and they repaired it for free, after i bought it used and told them it was my fault it broke,,, ive never seen service like that!

I've had several, and still sport a few.

My opinion is that cheap bipods are not worth the bother. They wobble and throw your shots more than not. The greater the distance you are shooting, the better your bipod needs to be.

If you're gonna buy a bipod don't go less than 100 bucks. A decent 9 inch such as a Harris will put you near 150, which is what I like.

Atlas is built like a tank. I have one, but I dont have a rifle the shoots well enough for me to mount it, maybe when I get my ACR.

Harris 6-9" HBRM-S.. Best bipod I have owned, hands down.

I own both Atlas and Harris but keep going back to the Harris above.

Check out Coretac Solutions

ETA: if you're a bigger guy, more than 250lbs, look at the 9-13. The higher bipod will let you get your shoulders up and keep you from holding your breath.

I own a Harris and I've been tempted to pickup an Atlas but I wanted a cheaper option and picked up a Caldwell from Amazon. Ehhh, let's just say I'll be sending that Caldwell back to Amazon on Monday. I should've gotten the Harris from the start.

Atlas:

Harris: (I think? I actually don't own this one anymore)

I'd say it depends on what gun you put it on and what kind of accuracy you expect at whatever distance you're shooting. I have two UTGs and they're good enough for what I use them for (one on an M14, one on an SKS, shooting at no more than 100 yards). My precision gun (R700P) has a Harris.

Harris are decent quality for the money.
I have an Atlas on my SR-25 and think it is overpriced for what you get.
