Nutters,

I am considering buying a Weatherby Vanguard SS. Is this a good gun? (I haven't had a Weatherby in my hands since the 1980's) Is it as good quality as the Other Weatherby line? Fit & finish? Smoothness? Your Informed Opinions Please! (Please, only constructive comments)

Pricecheck!!! What is a fair used (almost new condition) price? How much are they new?

Thanks to y'all!

The accurate Vanguards are pulled off the line and sold as "Sub-MOA Models"....
So what are your chances of getting a really accurate one.... thats right... "0" :(
But it is still not bad value for a 1 1/2 inch rifle... :?
Do yourself a favor and buy a Tikka T-3 Stainless ... handle them both then make up your mind

The vanguard which is made in Japan by howa is a good gun for the money. However with the most accurate ones being sold as the more expensive MOA model, the odds of getting a really accurate one have dropped significantly. On the other hand, all tikka rifles must shoot 1" groups before being sold.

Just bought a Vangaurd Stainless in 223(not moa) it will shoot 1/2.I have owned several vangaurds and all would shoot under an inch.Just because they test them in the factory with a certian brand of ammo, don't mean they won't shoot with some load development.MOA rifles may not shoot as well with another brand of ammo either. 8) Just about any new rifle you buy now will shoot if feed it the right stuff.

I've handled a couple of Vangaurds, although I haven't shot one. They seem to be quite nice for the price. My brother is planning on a stainless one in 30-06. Wholesale Sports lists them at $629.95 new.
