When I put the peep sight on my 94 I replaced the front sight with a Redfield sourdough or Patridge front sight. The little angled bit of gold catches the light and makes it fairly easy to see in low light. I think I got mine from fleabay, and I got a couple more from a gunsmith. Putting a fibre optic on a vintage Winchester is just sacrilege.

You can do fairly good shooting with the peep and flat-top post combination... 6 o'clock hold at 100 yds:

man im same... an the whole rebounding hammer thing seems to put me out at times, sort of figued it out now after a bunch of shooting recently, but say i havnt used it for a while, first few are pretty poor....

since loweing the FPS of the load, offhand is much easier and accurate on the targets

If it were me I would delete or reduce that rebounding hammer....glad marlin hasn't gone that route yet... Half #### has been a safe safety for almost 100 years...much prefer the solid thump of a non rebounding hammer. Makes accurate shooting easier too

that may of been wrong terminology after googling rebounding hammer, it looks like a cross bolt safety combination? mine dont have that, shes old, i just meant how that hammer drops on the plate before striking the primer......... slight delayed yeah?

I like red light tubes and gold dot's the best, in the smallest bead size I can get.
Gold works well against light targets and dark.

I treat the aimpoint like a red dot.... place the dot where you want it to hit and take the shot.

Peeps are nice for sure but I also like shooting buckhorn's contrary to many people.... full curl or close is pretty much a forward mounted peep with the bonus of having different reference points available for "Kentucky Elevation" if you want to lob one on some steel targets way beyond typical range.

Edit to add visual on the different elevation options off hand with buckhorn's.

I have a red Williams front sight on my Marlin 1895 GS. I lost the cool Wild West Guns stainless steel, cutaway hood.

On my Henry mares leg, full stock I have a green TruGlo HiViz front bead.
