Your loyalties in a hunting rifle?

Bought and sold a lot of rifles, but the only one I still have since high school, is a .303 from Sears@$29.99, in the early '70's.
Shoots straight and I never have to worry about marking it up.

I have gone back to my old reliable 7mmstw.
Below are my current rifles in 7mmstw.

I started with an old Lee Enfield, moved up to a 7RM for about 10 years and then up to a 300 WM and the last 25 years has been a factory stainless Rem 700 in a Brown Precision Sako LA fiberglass stock using Sako bottom metal. This rifle has travelled over most of the world with me and accounted for 100s of head of big game. Oh ya it's a 300 Wby...used to have a Zeiss 3-9 but lately I've been liking more glass power so I recently put a 4.5-14 Leupold on it.

I too started with an old 303 LE, but switched to a 308 Winchester years ago, and use it for all of my big game hunting. With a safe full of rifles to choose from, thats my favorite.

Umm, you must post a photo of it. :)

I've pretty much completed a migration away from belted cases, though I could always backslide! The last four rifles I have bought new were 2 270s, a 7-08 and a 25-06. The last one was a 270, could have just as easily been a 280 but I was already geared up for a 270 and have a lot of history behind them.

Not too much for loyalties here, I like to try new guns/calibers whenever I get the chance. I do have a 308 I'll never sell, Frankensteined together out of two other rifles by my uncle. It's a bull barrelled '43 K98 we nicknamed 'the fence post' due to it's carrying characteristics and it accounted for a great many of my deer kills.

Have lots of guns but my rem. 7600 in .308 is one that will always be in the safe. It was my first high power.
Fast, accuate and has put tons (literally) of meat in the freezer.

Looking at my rifle collection, I would have to say that I am loyal to belted magnums

However I am trying to change that and in the last few years have purchased a 30.06 & .308 BAR ;)

I would have to say my favourite and therefore the rifle I am most loyal to is my Voere 7mm STW, it has brought home more meat than a Texas cattle ranch!

I always figured Rem 700s would be my thing but recently have become a real fan of Sako 85s. Handler bought me a Finnlight in 270WSM and it has become my f avourite and primary hunting rifle. In very quick fashion I bought another 85 in 375H&H. Thinking abou picking up an 85 Varmint in 22-250 or 260 Rem.

I use to be a huge fan of the 7 rm, 300wm and 8mm rem mag but lately I've really started to enjoy and gain respect for my 7-08 and 270.win. as hunting calibers.
I did buy a 338 lapua this year and I'm really having fun with that too!

So gauche!

I sure love this rifle. It's my grab-and-go rifle when there are bears in town and my walking around rifle when I head out to see what I can see. If I had to nail it down to a certain "type" I'd have to say that they're good and Fuddish...wood and blue, Mauser or M70, and classic chamberings.

Winchester Model 70
CZ 527
Marlin levers 336, 1894
Ruger 77 Mark II design

The Model 70 is the only rifle design that leaves me with nothing to complain about. That's saying a lot!

You should try a good old fashioned Mauser 98 sporting rifle then, he Win 70 is basically just a cheapened copy.
