Your milsurp gun wall

I did the peg board thing as well. But also covered it with burlap and hung some net on the ceiling. Not the most luxurious, but worked for me and my budget. I need some more.

The BREN is supported by a pair of hand-rail supports (brass-ish) from Home Depot. 3 screws holding each of them into a stud. For your heavier "toys" you want to look for the studs for proper support.

The others, well, a friend of mine showed me a little trick with some 3" long Robertson screws, zipped into the wall an inch-ish, on a slight up angle, then slip a .303 shell-casing over the head of the screw, with the headstamp out. Looks like the rifle is resting on a .303 shell stuck in the wall.

Here is how I have done 2 of my gun room walls. 4' x 8' sheets of pegboard horizontally, since I have a small room and low ceilings. It isn't too pretty, but it could be painted or otherwise "fancied up". The great thing with pegboard is the flexibility and the fact the you can get pegs designed to hold lots of different things. Across the bottom of one of the walls, I have tapped nails into the bottom horizontal 2x2s and hung my bayonets between the pegboard and the floor. I have always been planning on buying some small diameter rubber tubing or heat shrink to put over the pegs, but I haven't gotten that far yet. If you are careful, the pegs don't mark the guns. The third from last photo is a partial view of the 3rd wall with basic rifle racks. The last 2 photos are of the 4th wall, with an upright rack for doubles, spares, junkers, etc and book shelves above.

This is what Milsurp collection is all about. I would not hesitate for a moment to give a missing piece of this collection if I had it to a collector like this who represents these Firearms in such a manner.
A New Zealand collector was missing a rare MG belt for his collection and when I saw what he had and what he did to represent these type Firearms and my enthusiasm for them, I mailed it to him N/C. He offered to pay or trade but I gave it to him. It was not to resell you can be sure. It made my day as much or more than it made his.
Bravo myenfield!

Thank you for the kind words. I would be more than happy to accept any donations, by the way. I can pm you with a list of all the really neat things I don't have, if you would like.:D

I didn't think I saw any brens, but just in case you start a collection of them would you like a ultra rare plessey fixed line sight for a MKI with the double dovetails. It's in mint shape even comes in the Bino, box.

No Bren YET, but that can be fixed given time and a wee bit more space. Feel free to send any bits, pieces or parts, or complete Brens. I am licenced for 12(3) converted autos, by the way, so any that get donated won't get chopped up.:)

hey heres a question for you, is the pegbaord you have in 4x8 cuts or one large piece that you mounted? also is it the quarter inch on thickness or the thinner stuff?

where did you get it, as I can only find the small cuts at the usual places like home depot etc etc

thanks

The pegboard is 1/4" - I don't trust the amount of weight to the thinner stuff. The sheets were originally 4'x8', but I had to rip them to 4'x4' to get them into my basement. I bought them at a local hardware/lumber store. I have seen full sheets at Home Depot, Home Hardware, Rona, etc. If you are anywhere close to me (midwestern Ontario) I can point you to a couple of specific stores. If you are going this route, make sure you set the pegboard out far enough from the wall behind to get the pegs inserted. I used 2"x2" and lagged them into the cement with several Tapcons each. I really, REALLY don't want a sheet falling off the wall once populated.

The timing of this thread is ironic. I just sold my house and bought another one, so here comes a whole new gun room! I am crossing my fingers and toes that there will be enough space to make it bigger this time. Maybe then I can display some uniforms, helmets, rifles with bayonets fixed, .... It is going to be a lot of work to pack all that crap up and move it, but it would be really nice to get more display space.
