The Lithgow Factory made some tasteful as well as odd looking sporters, an interesting collecting field on its own. Good call to use synthetic, I cant imagine the coachwood surviving an English Winter let alone a Canadian one!

hey broncoo, may want to unload or at least not have the rifle cocked when the muzzle is only a couple degrees off your head... tends to be a bad day when one becomes a statistic:cheers:

Already posted this in the 7x57 thread, but here ya go...

1895 Chilean mauser, tastefully(IMO) sportered for my dad by a local gunsmith many years ago. The tip and the grip cap are done out of moose antler, its my favourite gun for stalking in the hardwoods. Notice the remnants of a 175grn nosler partition that was recovered from this buck in '07. I'm pretty sure I tagged some brush before I hit him, but still cored his heart from 30 yards and ended up resting an inch or two into his paunch. The buck ran about 25 yards, smack into an ironwood pole, but I took my eyes off him to search for my brass(stooopid). It was getting dark and there was hardly any blood, so after about 10 mins of fumbling around, I almost tripped over him. My first big(ish) buck, shot at the end of the last day!

MY FAVORITE PIC THUS FAR
Makes me want to go buy a Mosin right now

This is my favorite thread so far. The Mosin is just a beautiful beautiful old rifle for under 300 bucks. I like all these old rifles. Anyone can shoot a deer with a $2000 rig, but this is where its at as far as I'm concerned. Every milsurp I have has been hunting and has taken an animal. I can hardly wait for more pics :dancingbanana:

Ok

Defensive Beginning:
I was not the Bubba involved in what you're about to see. I have used 'em though...I guess I'm an "enabler"!
Top: AG-42B...my first Rifle and, few months later, my first deer. Sure doesn't seem that long ago...

Middle: Girlfriend's "sporty" No4...she hasn't actually hunted with it yet but, paper, cans and, clays(stationary...they explode so nicely) have all suffered from it.

Bottom: vz24. "The sins of the Father...". My dad bought this when he crossed the pond. Late 50's or, early 60's. Had the scope mounted and, bolt bent then. Cut him some slack...those were freaky times! Real-life and, talented fella did it. I received it as a gift about 10 years ago! (Absent cleaning rod...)

On a side note...this is my first pic post. if it works, look out EE, here I come!

..edit: It worked but, sorry for crappy pic!

One of a pair of #5's I have. This first one was a little rough when I got it but it cleaned up not too bad. I have the original butt stock for it as well but when I got it there was what I believe to be one made by Bishop on it. So as not to 'bubba' it and to keep away from drilling holes for a scope mount, I got an S&K mount. I've mounted a 3-9 Bushnell Buckhorn on it primarily for load testing.

The second, being near mint, I picked up a bayonet for it and will leave it as is.

The AG-42B in the pic doesn't have a cut-down mag, it's not in the pic at all.

...WANTED half priced ag-42B mag...[/SIZE]

.

I'll ask him, they cant block the mags apparently they have to be cut down, insane local laws (for hunting only) but they can keep artillery without deactivating it!
