** Your NEA102 build **

Got my upper back from BCL with a new barrel today. Put on my SLR 11.7” handguard. Swapped out the Burris Tac30 I had on there for a Sightron STAC 2-10 for more magnification. Points WAY better with the lighter handguard.

I should have went with black instead of FDE, oh well I will fix that.

I kinda like the two tone, I have a two tone as well, odg and black
 
Just dumped 5 mags thru my 102 to test function and didnt have any issues whatsoever.

Didn't bother to do accuracy testing since my New barrel and BCG will be here in 4 weeks.

Still Alive hit the 200 yard gong on the first shot thank to my awesome scope :) and that Precision Armament brake gave me a freedom boner :)

lots of issues with mine, spent a day at abbie Friday, I think all my light primer strikes are the bolt not fully going into battery people here are saying I'm a dufus because I changed the trigger and that's why

do you mind listing all your mods you had on the rifle during your test firing

AR10 rifles generally have heavier hammers than AR15. If you have an AR15 hammer in a target trigger then it could very well be the issue with light strikes.

That makes sense. The 102's firing pin is also under spring tension, which wouldn't help a lighter hammer also.

If I still had my titanium pin, I would have tried my geissele trigger with it to compare from the OEM solution.

No one is saying you’re a dufus. To diagnose problems you have to use the process of elimination. Try your stock trigger to see if it eliminates your light primer strikes. I have an ALG trigger in mine which comes with two springs. The purple spring is lighter and when I used it I got light primer strikes. Went with the heavier spring and no problems.

If your rifle is still giving you light strikes with the stock trigger, then move on to other things. If your light strikes are gone with the stock trigger but you still have cycling issues then you’ve got a secondary issue to sort out.
 
Wilson combat specifically states the ttu is compatible with 762 308 receivers, but I will nevertheless remove it and put the stock trigger back.

The timney in my modern Hunter wouldn’t pop the hirtenberger stuff reliably at all. The trigger tech I threw in my PAR was the same. Went back to a milspec and it is 100% reliable. I get failures to load from my cheap XCR pistol mags too due to the tilty follower. And if your a dufus, then I’m a flippin moron cuz I’ve had these sorts of problems multiple times. Ha
 
A few updates on the 102. Just finished installing the 20 inch Shillen barrel from Craddock Precision, with SLR adjustable gas block. Also added the JP HP Bolt and LMOS carrier, BCM Gunfighter 7.62 charging handle and Magpul STR stock. Looking forward to putting it through the paces.











102 vs G2. G2 has a Ranier ultra match barrel so should be a good comparison. That group was with a load I made up for the 102 pre barrel swap so should be promising!


and impatiently waiting for reciever sets to show up!

Little bit of scotch to help me through the night.

Should also add that used loctite 680 to bed the barrel to the reciever and moly lube vs anti seize on the barrel nut made a world of fifference.

Quick question. Why the SLR handguard and not a MI one like on the G2? The G2 and the gen 2 BCL both have that rounded flared area before the handguard. The rounded barrel nut interface of the MI looks pretty good with it. I understand with the Gen 1 why the SLR was popular. But with the Gen 2 I think the MI would look better.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice rifle and I know that the SLR will lighten up the front.

Also that BCL bolt doesn't look as bad as I was expecting. Have they taken care of the inside finish? I understand that they addressed this after gas rings were being chewed up?

Wanted something light weight on the 102. With the SLR, Trijicon and the heavily fluted 20 inch barrel it is deceivingly light and handy...not AR carbine with a micro light, but good for a scoped battle rifle.

With the exception of the gas key (I could do better with an angle grinder) the gen 2 bcg is fine. I put maybe 500 rounds through it without issue. Dead reliable even though it doesn't pass the gas ring test.

The MI handguard is light. I have one for my GII. They make it for the AR10 as well.

Good to know the bCG is working well!
