** Your NEA102 build **

Ya, I was thinking the 9.9 as the shorter buffer tubes don't allow the bolt enough clearance back to strip a round from the magazine.

The 8 seems like an odd length.

Always go with the longer length buffer tube. An insert of some kind can always be installed in the longer length buffer tube to bring inside dimensions back to the appropriate length to maintain the same spring tension. With close to 2" of extra length you may need to.

If you try using a tube with too short of length a new round not stripping will be the last of your worries.

Since we are on the topic of stocks, I want to set up my BCL102 in a DMR configuration (I like to shoot PR), but I have no experience with Magpul stocks. Would those of you who do, please weigh in on "PRS Gen3 vs. UBR Gen2"?

Also, since I am relatively new to the AR platform, I am baffled by the variety in buffer tubes. What would I have to do if I wanted to install either of those Magpul stocks?

Thanks

Personally my opinion is before investing money in a PR setting, maybe try the 102 in its native form with various ammo to see if yours can actually do better than 1 moa. Accuracy varies largely from owner to owner so far. Otherwise why waste your money. Im only putting on it what I have as spare right now, I am not dropping my cash on something that might never be.

Of course my opinion is worth what I charge for it.

I am inclined to agree with you, but I thought I would start researching the topic now, in case I got lucky.

Personal opinion having one already is buy a new trigger. Stock one sucks.

Sure it's the trigger? :p

Sorry couldn't resist.. I plan on changing out the spring on mine at the very least once I get one. If that doesn't cut it then I'll do a full replacement. I had the same issue with my DPMS LR308. The trigger was replaced.

Hey Jon, could you do us a favour? Some ammo tests without being super cheap and raiding the equipment room for targets? Those RCMP qualification targets are less than ideal for grouping. I suspect the groups will shrink with a traditional target that has the grid at 1" intervals.

I'm not particularly worried about the accuracy. The problem I'm seeing here is that the results frankly happen long before the shooter ever attends the range/field to shoot. Lots of reinventing the wheel going on here. I've seen some results that lead me to believe the rifle is capable.

To prove my point and no I'm not trying to stir stuff up.... But how many of you guys have ordered small base resizers? Or at least made sure that your current full length resizer will work adequately? A whole lot of guys are going to run into issues chambering if they aren't used to these types of rifles.... Never mind going through all kinds of strange powder choices etc to find that "one magic bullet".

I have just full length sized with hornady custom grade 308 dies with no issues except one round which failed to feed / chamber fully which I think was on me due to rushed brass prep. Over 100 rounds of reloads with just that one FTF.

How's the muzzle break that comes with the 102? I have a spare 308 lantac dragon sitting around but if the factory one is decent I might save it for something else

I swapped out the factory handguard and barrel nut. That's 400 gram weight loss or 14.1 oz off of the factory weight, it's 9.8 lbs in this config including the optic. It handles so much better, I love it. This is by far my favorite gun in the cabinet at this point!

The SLR Helix is beautifully machined, it's like a work of art! Took some quick shots after I ran a few more rounds through it.
