The barrel is nitrided. Doubt you could successfully ream the chamber.

Why are people fixated on it? Gee I don’t know. I prefer my rifles finicky as hell and don’t want them to run with whatever I feed it.

I don't think that means what you think it means... or is that sarcasm?
Anyways, there's always a solution. If you just want a cheap bullet hose to spray norc ammo get a norc gun.
 
I still want to know what everyone is running that is so finicky, unless I got the perfect rifle. Everything but some old neck sized reloads chambered and shot just fine. Had to "mortar" those out of the chamber, a term I learned from a gentleman on here. Run it wet, don't baby it, it's been a dream so far, aside from not shooting certain nato rounds accurately.
 
Hirtenberger no, but the old canadian 7.62 ball whatever it's called, and some old south african crap that hasn't patterned worth a damn with anything. Other than that, factory 150 grain, all my handloads save the ones previously mentioned. I'm not the only one on this site to have shot it either.

I know, me too. Don't forget people blow things out of proportion on the forums here, especially if it has anything to do with an NEA product.

How did you get the ranger plates on, Ive considered riveting them on. Interested to see your solution.

I know exactly what it means. It’s harder than chrome and you’d need a carbide reamer if it will work at all. May as well buy a new barrel. It would likely be cheaper in the long run.
 
RE: ranger plates

Two rivets and a small flat washer were used.

I clamped the XCR plate to the original mag base plate, drilled out two holes for the rivets into the "vertical" legs of the PMag plate just deep enough to seat the rivets. The washer was used for a spacer, between the PMag plate and original base plate, to help align the gap needed to interface with the front edge of the magazine body.

The modified/combination base now seats snug, and locks on the mag body as it did with just the original base plate. The magazine can still be disassembled for cleaning with a little lift of a small screw driver at the rear edge.

I can take some close up shots if anyone needs. Pretty easy mod.
 
so let me get the summary straight .....

this is NOT a match grade rifle but it's got a match grade chamber so it's finicky feeding many types of ammo ?

Is this the long and short of it ?

Any other issues so I don't have to read every post ?
