** Your NEA102 build **

But Jay closed the one where we could just b!tch and whine, it was nice having that one for the "fun" comments :p

142 pages, time to start over with one that just has range reports and issues/fixes

Maybe after next week, when the Gen 2 gets in people's hands, we can start a "BCL 102 #####ing/whining page II"

So you're agreeing with what I say about the 102 but don't like that I post it because I don't own one? :p
Needing an adjustable gas block is more proof they are using the customers as the beta testers.

and ATRS did it any different ?? don't you have some more shilling/sucking up to do in the mv-s thread ??

Wonder what gen 3 will bring. LoL

Gen 3 will be a switch to full polymer receivers, an "Ultra Match" chamber, and use a candy cane for a charge handle, but they won't tell anyone until after all the pre-orders for that batch have been sold.

My MH doesn't need an adjustable gas block. The Hunters I shot from the first batch all functioned fine if you stayed away from soft point ammunition and actually followed the manufacturers instructions for lubrication. Accuracy was mediocre with mediocre ammo. The charge handle flopping around isn't really an issue, more of an annoyance and has been addressed. Cam pin? A few rifles needed a free adjustment.
Shilling/sucking up? Lol, more like simply stating observations and thanking the owner for giving us a NR rifle that works and is very desirable to own.

My build is on the back burner until next year. Hopefully by then they will have strip receiver sets.

Really?!!! I was just looking at those, Lots of belt goodness going on there, a little out of my price range for a toy right now but sure looks cool. Congrats!

Open bolt, direct blow back with a fixed firing pin

Does that mean it will have parts compatible with my dewat STEN?

Definitely not.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of a 'Hunter?' I bought a NR 308 with the intent to double duty range and actually get it out, scratched, hunted.

The manufacturer stated right from day one that the rifle was a little picky with ammo and that they recommended polymer tip or FMJ. Hunter was to remove it from the AR name as far as possible to help get it NR status.
No matter how much you try to pick apart the MH series they are light years ahead of anything coming out of BCL. You don't like them? Fine don't buy one. You don't like the owner? Fine, don't support him.
You need to realize that just because your 102 actually functions (for now) that there were a few guys that weren't so lucky and my point with talking about reliability is that considering there are only 77 in customers hands so far and how many have had issues (that we know about) it's not a good track record. I like the 102 and think it has a lot of potential but I'm not going to buy one just because it's cheap. I want a reliable rifle, not one I may have to replace half the moving parts just to get it to work. When they improve their QC I'll look into buying one if I'm still interested and if there isn't something else out by then that I want more.
You like it and you're happy with it? I'm happy for you and hope it provides you with many years of service but you've already said it yourself that your rifle came to your door with issues and to me that's not acceptable, you should not have to take a brand new rifle and fix it yourself just to get it to function. I've seen all the range reports and pics and as I said I was part of the 102/MH comparison and I've seen what a skilled shooter and reloader can do with both platforms. The 102 is an entry level rifle with reliability and manufacturing issues. The MH is a high quality product that in the right hands is very reliable and also very accurate.
When BCL gets their sh!t together the 102 will be a great entry level rifle and a fun plinker or base for a build but what you buy new from the manufacturer should work reliably as it came from them, what the consumer does after that is up to them. Your rifle needing an adjustable gas block just shows how little R&D they did on the rifle, I can tell you within a few shots with a few different types of ammo if a rifle is overgassed and they should have at least got that part right.
And my hunter will be hunted with and probably scratched and probably covered in mud but I'm not going to intentionally damage it just so it looks bad ass.

Would this 6.5 creedmoor barrel essentially be able to switch out? What's the gas tube length on the bcl?

Yep. There's a guy that spun a ballistic advantage 6.5 barrel on to his 102 with stellar results. I bought one of the 6.5 ba barrels. I needed to buy a rifle length tube and new gas block for it. Not super expensive for the block and tube. All in was under $450. I can't stand guns that don't shoot well, so it was a no brainer for me, personally.
