** Your NEA102 build **

Well I tested my BCG with a buddy that just came over...

The bolt goes into the BCG on its own weight....

If I pull out the bolt and set it on the table , the BCG will drop. Not good.

Hey, when i pull the bolt out of mine, and put it on a table bolt facing up, the bolt stays up. If I put it like dilligaf's in post 1508, it sometimes goes down halfway, sometimes stays up and other times down completely...

What should it do?? Not move at all?

It shouldn’t move at all. Mine goes all the way down all the time.

But Ryan said that since this isn’t a typical AR10/AR15 that we really shouldn’t worry about it until we actually shoot these rifles. The bolt carrier is pretty beefy.

bcg weight should never move the bolt, the seal of the bolt with the carrier needs to be tight

Some people reported the 102 to be overgassed thats why I got a adjustable gas block on the way :) So maybee the overgassing was to compensate for looser tolerances on the bolt...

But as long as the bolt locks in place I dont think there's any issues.

One thing you might also want to try is https://www.wolverinesupplies.com/productdetail/amlea1055_armalite-ar10-mcfarland-gas-ring

Just searched Armalites FAQs and According to Armalite it is fine for this to happen. The AR10 can have more slop due to the bigger volume of gas. The AR15 "stand the BCG on end/ see if the bolt moves" does not apply to the AR10. Armalite has even said it will run without them. So I just learned something new today, But I still prefer tight over loose even for bolts.

So now once I adjust my gas setting to my Brownells bolt I wonder if the original will work . Cant wait to try it out.

Finished the barrel swap.

New Rifle Length Gas System. Interesting how much further the Gas tube protrudes into the Upper Receiver with the new parts.

Nope, I commented on that on one of the other posts a long time ago. I also contacted BCL to ask and all I got was............

Looking at time tested and proven models, I still think BCL has a lot of refinement to do, and should have done before pumping them out the door.

As long as I can get mine to 8 lbs with scope and loaded i'll be happy. That Faxon barrel looks nice tho!
