** Your NEA102 build **

Specific to reducing weight on a budget for my bcl 102...

Hi folks, I ordered mine March 28th.
Wondering if anyone has done research into weight reduction vs price.

Being in Canada, handguards are a bit limited and pretty expensive.
Thinking lighter muzzle break if its worth it (as it's at the far front)

Thinking value lightweight optics mount, and scope.

This is my long range hunting rig...

I like my Nikon BDC 4x12 40, 200$ and 17 oz I think.
Can I do better for a clear, lightweight scope for dusk/dawn?

Worth switching trigger guard?

For sure getting a 2 stage trigger, I never used one but I like the concept.

Hey guys...OK this might be a dumb question and answer bit off topic but what's the correct pronunciation for Geisselle?

I own a 102... it’s a poor choice for a long range hunting rig. Full stop.

In the grand scheme of things, lightweight and value dont really go well together unless some major compromises are made in other places.

Personally I prefer to throw money at my 102 build to make the weight go away without making serious compromises in other places. :p

Budget, lightweight and modern sporting rifle don’t go well together. Light weight stuff is not cheap at all. Go look at the V7 Weapon Systems website for an idea on price. If you do a cost per weight lost analysis for AR10 parts the best value is handguard, barrel & BCG. I’ve spent way too much money getting my Modern Hunter under 7lb (no optic) and keeping the functionality I want. Realistically if money was no object and all you were concerned about was getting the weight as low as possible on a BCL102, you basically have to replace all the factory parts and you could get down to the 6.2-6.4lb range

Realistically if you want light weight in this price range go buy a Kimber Mountain ascent. 4lb 13oz

Slapped it together the other day, not sure if it will run.

That does look pretty sweet!
Oh and by lightweight, I am aiming for 8.2 - 8.5 lbs with optic mounted.

Seen popular handguards for the 102 at 300$ Canadian. Im willing to add a few ounces if I only pay 200$.

Gives me hope that I can mismatch my burnt bronze and fde lol cause black and bronze just isn't doing it and to send it all for cerakote is a last resort

Mr. Donut, what color code and paint did you use?

Rustoleum tan from Walmart, lol! After I get home tonight, I'll get the exact code.

Mr. Donut, that is a awesome build. Makes me want to get a second reciever set to build a similar clone!

It's a far cry from what I was going for (mk11 mod0), but I have accepted that I can't afford to build a spec clone, and some of the KAC parts probably won't fit anyway :)

Calling it a day with "close enough"

I posted some more pics and the parts list in the other thread:

https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...21-BCL-102-stripped-receiver-set-thread/page7

But here is an updated list for the complete build. I've only slapped the parts together and it seems to fit, but I have no idea if this thing will work, for all I know, it could be a giant paper weight at this point, lol!

Surefire muzzle brake - Midwayusa
Ballistic Advantage 6.5cm barrel -CTCS
Factory BCL 102 Gas Block - EE
Random mid-length gas tube - spare parts box
AR Stoner NiB LR308 BCG - Midwayusa
Armalite SASS hand guard - EE
DPMS 308 buffer, buffer spring, A2 receiver extension - Midwayusa
DPMS dust cover, AR Stoner ambi selector- Midwayusa
Armalite tactical two-stage trigger set - Wolverine
Colt A2 stock - EE
PRI tac latch - Midwayusa
Factory BCL 102 charging handle - EE
Spuhr sp4002 - Go Big Tactical
Razor HD Gen II - SFRC
Norgon ambi mag release - Nordic
KAC buis - EE
KAC M110 taupe A2 grip
Rustoleum Khaki 259514 - Walmart

For the Midwayusa stuff, you'll have to get IRG or Az Tec to bring it in for you.

Remember, I haven't test fired the rifle or shot it for groups, so it could be a giant waste of time. The parts seem to function as they should during dry fire tests. I was able to produce a .65" group with a buddy's rifle with similar features, but who knows it that will happen with this thing.

Since it appears that CGN is now censoring my picture hosting site, I've been slowly moving some pictures to IMGUR. If you google "BCL102 Stripped Receiver build - M110", the first hit will take you to a forum that cannot be mentioned here by name with a detailed and pic heavy thread of my build.
