My 102 showed up courtesy of GoBigTactical (who were great to deal with!) yesterday. So last night I threw the parts pile at it. First off I will say how much the rifle impressed me right out of the box. All the horror stories had me looking hard at it, I couldn’t really find anything wrong with it at all, in fact I was impressed with the fit and balance of the rifle right out of the box. So on went the ACS, Magpul sling, M-lok AFG, B5 grip, JP adjustable trigger (yellow springs), PWS triad (the bcl FH was ok but I wanted something shorter), M-lok rail and Tangodown bipod. Then after a bit of deliberation between a Stac 3-16, bushnell fixed 10x and my old standby Vari-x III Long Range, the Leupold found its way on top. So far I couldn’t be happier, got a gig tonight so I will be busy today but I have plans to take it out tomorrow. I’ll keep y’all posted on how it does.

Another picture of my 102 since adding a few goodies

Eotech exps2-0 holographic
Strike Industries link fore grip (realizing I took some of the pictures prior to installing)

Next plans are a BCM gunfighter mod 3 grip, Magpul STR stock and either a giessele ssa-e or sde trigger. I would love to upgrade the hand guard to something lighter but it would be such a hassle to get the burnt bronze properly colour matched.

Had the 102 out yesterday, function with Hirtenberher through 120rds was excellent. Refused to eject my handloads, guess I’ll need small base dies for this puppy. Other than some reset issues with the JP trigger it ran like a top, was on the gong at 270yds easily. No accuracy testing, just fun ringing steel with some friends. Half way through shooting a truck rolled up, of course we thought someone was upset with all the noise, nope! It was Brice from The Fever on wild tv, YouTube etc. he and his ol lady joined us in shooting for the rest of the afternoon. Great people! Nice to meet some fellow enthusiasts doing what we love. Everyone seemed to like the 102, I think pretty much everyone took a poke or two with it. Compared to my previous Modern Hunter I’d say it stacks up pretty well, especially when price is considered. Sure the machining isn’t quite on ATRS ‘s level, but at 1/3 of the price I’m pretty happy. I’ll try to get it out and see what I can do for some groups, judging by how well it shot the Hirt I have high hopes. Only minor issue I experienced was the ejection port detent set screw waking out, but a dab of blue locktite when I got home and it’s probably not going anywhere now.

Are you using the right adapter? Should snug right up on either carbine or rifle tube.

The 102 comes with a buffer tube that is Rifle length, but has the rail for six position stocks. However, the PRS comes with 2 adapters: one for carbine stocks that has a slot for the six position rail, and one for rifle stocks that does not have the slot for a six position rail. So the rifle length adapter would not fit with out me cutting out a slot in the polymer adapter, and cutter about an entire inch off of the rail on the buffer tube.

In other news, just got back from the range and 3 issues:

1. Weak Extraction - will not most cases (around 95%). Also, sometimes loses grip on the case and drops it in the chamber as well.
- Bullets tested - Federal Gold Medal 168GN Sierra Match King; Hornady Black 168GN AMAX; Remington Yellow Box 180GN RN; Hirtenburger 150GN 7.62 NATO Boxer; Norinco 150GN 308
2. Won't chamber round nose bullets - Chamber won't lock, casings get bent and bolt jammed forward.
3. BCL forgot to screw in the dust cover detent and locktite it - Shot a few rounds and no more screw to be found on the dust cover detent.

I just ordered the 15" one for my Stag10...lol...

Yeah these rails are pretty slick, priced to sell and the owner is a real gun nut.

I just ordered the 12" one for my Stag 10. I'll be building off the upper/lower set.

Not a build but here is my 102... I'm actually waiting for the Coyote brown B5 SOPMOD stock. I ordered a FDE one to go with my FDE 102. The 102 isn't FDE. It's coyote brown (I hope). I have a black one on there right now that will go on my Stag 10 build once the Coyote brown one shows up.

I've got the trigger at a point where I should be able to shoot with it no problem. I use the initial travel with crunch as a single stage, then you feel the weight like a second stage. At that point it's pressure and a clean break. Some oil/G96 and a couple of hours with the paracord trick. Not optimum but I will be able to shoot groups with it, unlike when I first got it.

The DD handguard seems to fit, except we weren't able to get on two of the 6 mounting screws:

The Gen 2 upper receiver interferes with the last two screws, but the hand guard seemed secure with 4 out of 6...time will tell I guess.

I ordered my bcl102 feb 2018... its finally being shipped next week. I was looking into handguards and was wondering if anyone had photos of 16" or the odin 17.5" installed on there 102? I like the longer handguard look but, I haven't seen any pictures of a longer handguard for the bcl as of yet. curious to see what it would look like before i pulled the trigger on one.

This may have been discussed before and I just missed it when I did a search but I am struggling to find a A2 length receiver extension for my 102 that will capture the buffer retainer. I have tried several extensions and its just not quite long enough. Does anybody have a recommendations of a specific one that will work? I have tried several brownells branded ones and ArmaLite with the ArmaLite one coming close enough to initially capture the retainer but when I function tested it, the spring and buffer retainer came out.

Thanks

The one that came with my ubr stock also did that. You can us the JP silent captured buffer without the retainer if you don't find a tube that will fit.
