OK.... very curious as to what everyone's number one favorite piece of gear is.... It could be anything, a gun, a piece of clothing, a call, a GPS..... the list goes on and on..... what i sthe one ting you found for huntin' that you wouldn't want to go without?.... Why is it your fave etc....

I personally love my GPS..... it's not a newer model... it's a plain old Garmin Etrex.... but the fact that it gets me on my turkey after I mark it the night before (put it to bed), marks rubs and scrapes and trail cams during deer season in areas I wouldn't easily be able to get back to and is great for just being able to get back to any location gives it a hugs thumbs up in my book....

I have one of those as well. Just bought it used off the EE. I think it going to be very useful for grouse hunting.

My dog is my favorite piece of outdoor gear!!!

Cheers
Jay

And here's why... This is a pic of Nos after successfully completing his FIRST blood trail in deer season. The deer meat would NOT have been recovered without Nos!!!

Lots of stuff, rifle, binos, new to me Lieca range finder.
The one thing I would not want to forget would be my gps as well.
Walking, my Rino 130.
Bush wacking, my Nuvi 550 with the BC Backroads SD card.
Makes the bush way more inviting and to find the fur if one needs to come back
for it.

Nice entries so far guys.... we all need a gun etc... but to be able to lean on something or think it makes your hunting life better is awesome...... I think Jay i scheating and live near him and may keep him and NOS on speed dial.....lol

If you are planning on using it to get back to your truck or camp etc when hunting grouse it will be spot on... I do that when hunting ruffies all of the time...

That is all I wanted it for, I still carry a compass that will keep me headed right no matter what.... but my etrex will get me within 9 feet of something I marked from anywhere in the world.... and that is cool.....

my old hunting sweater. I've had it for almost 10 years and I can't go hunting without it. It's now officialy my lucky sweater. It's been worn on so many hunts the sleeves are permanently stained red up to the elbows. My vortex binos are a close second.

i really love my titanium kubaton! but i dont really use it i just love looking at it! i carry it with my everywere! but for a peace of gear i take and use out in the brush or around the farm would have to be my esee rc4. have it on my belt every were i go! i re ground the edge to convex so its much more durable! just finished skinning a hog i shot! dam things are almost taking over my deer bait! still cut paper after i was done! btw i shot it with my new ruger 77/44 using barnes xpb solid copper ammo! great stuff!

My choice is geared more towards hunting in a specific timbered terrain. On those occasions, something worth its weight in gold is an item from years past and my days working in the woods on the west coast of the island. A pair of Pierre Paris caulk boots, shown to the right of the rifle butt in the photo below.

My Swarovski 8.5x42 binocs. Allow me to hunt better and pay attention more. Not nocking other people's choices, but the absolutely last piece of kit that I would consider important is a GPS. I detest them. I'd much rather use my skills and wits to navigate the bush, but that's just me.

I have a great hunting knife my friend.... I really thought about making it number 1.... it never lets me down...

I don't know if I have a favorite single piece of gear but I always seem to stuff the same two things into my pockets when I go hunting, fishing, camping or just wandering around. I've owned them for a long time, probably bought them both in the mid to late ninties. The first is a Gerber Strikeforce flint and steel. The second is a Silva Trekker compass. Both provide me with a little peace if mind and I've never had to rely on either, and I hope to keep it that way. Of course I always end up with a bunch of other things too, but these are the two items that never change.

I have 400 acres of bush... I want to be able to get up at 5 am and get within 50 yards of where I roosted a big tom turkey I rosted and marked before first light....

It's not all about navigation in my case.... but I get what you are saying
