So i picked up one of those FNS 40L and I don't mind it but I have an opportunity to get M&P 40

I was going to do it but a friend of mine is talking me out of it and to keep the FN.....think he is right?

Have you handled it? Does it feel better in your hand? Or are you just not a fan a long slide? I'd skip the MP40 and get gen4 glock 22.

Had both. I didnt have the FN for long, only 250rnds. Have more experience with the m&p40, couple thousand rnds maybe. Was issued one for work as well.
Would take the m&p over the fn, mainly due to more experience with it and the ergonomics of it were better for me. Also still have 4 mags sitting in the safe for it :) if i ever get another

Both are a solid choice no real problems with either. do you prefer striker or hammer that is the question. my advice is get both then buy a glock,hk,sig etc..

FNP has a hammer, FNS is striker fired.... For me it would be more of a question of full size/standard 4.25" barrel or longslide with 5" barrel.

If FN's came as a 4.25" from the factory they'd be more appealing to me.

Sell the FN, buy a 1911!

Hahaha. I am a recent convert to a well put together 1911. I have no idea when it comes to polymer guns. I liek steel! ;)

The M&p has far more aftermarket support, parts replacements, barrels, holsters, mags are easy to come by. The M&p feels less cheap in hand, you feel like your holding something they actually took some time to make and design. not to say the fn is garbage it's not, it just looks and feels very plain

Strangely, S&W never even enters my mind when thinking of pistols. The first thing that crossed my mind when I read the title of this thread was "FN makes revolvers now?" ;)

Just bought my first pistol, and my experience was the exact opposite of this, although the M&P has way more support, I handled and shot both, and I found the FNS to be a much nicer and at least to me, a way better built pistol, I thought the M&P felt cheaply made by comparison, I guess everybody has to choose what feels good to them, in my case, I bought the FN, to me it felt like a much nicer pistol, especially for the cost, simply couldn't justify $250 more for what I felt was a lesser gun
