Your opinion on the Ruger SR9...

Seems pretty decent for the price, the folks I know that have one like it. The only thing that stops me from getting one is that the gun is pretty complicated. If you go online to youtube and look for a disassembly video, you'll see it's quite a complex procedure to take the thing right down, lots of parts and specific sequences for disassembly and reassembly. I take mine apart too much for it to be that complicated.

It is the most comfortable plastic gun, slim profile, nice grip shape, want to buy one but the newest generation haven't show up in Canada yet. The newest one has a D shape mag release.

If you are interested in the SR9 shoot one first to see if it fits you. As far as I am concerned it is the best bang for the buck pistol out there. The Glock 17 I have has not seen the light of day since I purchased my SR9 two years ago. The glock is like holding a 2x4 compaired to a SR9. You will hear a lot of posts on how creepy and gritty the trigger is, and the first SR9 were like that post recall. Mine has gotten better with over 800 rounds shot. I have since installed a ghost inc. 3.5lb trigger connector and a reduced power striker spring. The trigger is now mint. Do not be put off by some video's out there on complete stripping, there is nothing to it. Basic field stripping for cleaning is simple like any other pistol.

It goes about $520 to 570 depends on where you get them, my advise is to shop around. As for the trigger, every brand name gun will have people dislike the stock trigger and want to replace something. Anyhow if you know someone in your area have one, see if you can ask to try shoot a mag or two.

I was in a course this weekend with a participant shooting a Ruger SR9. They had a great deal of difficulty with the slide lock leaver. It is extremely tight on the gun. It made mag changes at speed almost impossible. You actually had to pull back on the slide to drop the slide lock leaver.

I guess on the plus side it shot accurately, but all accuracy in the world can't make up for something that is slow to reload...

I really liked mine when I had it... Probably one of my favorite 9mms to shoot. Light weight, fits in your hands beautifully, trigger was fine, take down and cleaning was really easy and for a plastic gun it didn't look like a glock. I got mine for 500.00 shipped on the EE. Elwood Epp's had one used not too long ago for under 400.00. It went quick.

I had owned an SR9 about 1 year ago. Nothing special really, nothing bad to say about it. One thing I really liked about this gun is the hand-to-bore distance (is that how you say it? :p ). It's really easy to cover that whole frame and have an excellent grip.

A cheap gun that works!

Wow, you don't like to look things up yourself?
Lots of banners on the top of the page.

someone has 10% off in-stock handguns until tomorrow....... they would be the cheapest

I did find many reviews but its always nice to hear opinions from fellow CGN members..as for buying one I've found used ones for sale but not any Canadian dealers carrying new ones...

The SR9 is a decent entry level gun for the buck. I own one that I am about to sell on this site if I can only figure out how to list it. There was a problem with the trigger in early models. All new models have the modified trigger, like the one I own. I have not experienced any bad habits with the gun. Very smooth operation, easy to field strip and clean. Lastly, can someone please tell me how to list a classified as I am new to the site?

my sons first handgun, fist day out at the range he hit the 200 yard gong 4 out of 10 trys and the 50 yard gong regularily. They are a lot more accurate than many pistols out there, as for fit and finish, its a ruger... fits everyones hand different, doesn't fit mine, but the thing flat out shoots, and shoots extremely well. If you are in the market for one, buy it, its a great little pistol for price, and if you don't like it they are most likely one of the easiest to sell as they are good value.
