Rifle? Any rifle that fits you well and is accurate. However I do have a preference for Win 70's and modified milsurps.

Right now I've settled on 3 cartridges which I hunt big game with here in BC.

.223 Remington
300WSM
375 Ruger

All are stainless rifles with quality synthetic stocks.

I'm tempted to add a LW .260 or 7-08 to the list.

wow, 10 choices.

i would say pick 9 from somewhere between the 6.5x55 on the low end and .375 H&H on the high end (or .45/70). add a 12 gauge w/ both smoothbore and rifles barrels for those areas that are slug (ONT) or shot (BC) only. ensure that one meets whatever those goofy caliber restrictions are in southern ONT and make sure one fits BC's requirements for bison. have one that fits nicely in a saddle scabbard and one that can take any sort of weather.

30-30 , 38-55 , 30-06

25-06 , 375 H&H , 6.5 x 55 for now

other than because you can and the joys of ownership, what different purposes do the 300 and the 375 serve you?

Not much, really. There isn't anything in north america that can't be killed with a good bullet form a 7-08/30/06/7mmRM/300 class cartridge.

Still, a .375 is nice to have when hunting grizzly, and it's not out of place on any other big game animal, either.

deer and larger without too much redundancy

260 Rem
270WSM
30-30
300 Win Mag
340 Wby
375 Ruger
45/70

I cant even make 10!

10 I don't have 10, well I do but not all for hunting.

For hunting I can settle on 4

300WM Savage
30-30 Winchester
25-06 Tikka
22-250 Savage

covers big game, meduim game and varmits :D the 30-30 is the do all truck gun :D

Not a problem, name what favorites you do have and suppliment the remainder with what else you'd 'like to have':). A wish list if you will;):D.

I like redundant rifle overlap! :D

1, 7MM-08 Rem..... Rem 700 Varmint Special

2, .300 H&H..... Win Model 70 (Made in 1941!)

3, .300 Weatherby..... Made by Roy Weatherby himself in 1951

4, .257 Roberts..... Also an early Model 70.

5, .257 Ackley Improved.... On a left handed Win Model 70 action.

That is all I have that is legal to hunt with here in alberta unless you count my Sks, but i haven't hunted with it. Yet...

all a guy needs is 2 or 3, unless you want to be redundant

True enough but variety being the spice of life, the more the merrier:). As in a lot of 'things' we could narrow the choices down to one or two. With firearms, as with some of the other so called frills in life, sometimes our enjoyment of living is enhanced with the pride of ownership and having the diversity of choice. I've put great effort into convincing my wife I 'need' a variety of sunny day, rainy day, short range and long range firearms. Then more of the same for bigger game etc. I don't think she's bought my arguements:redface:, but I do have a fair selection;), and use them:D.
