i just bought an axis to play with, so far i have some 55 grn blitz kings tried them over varget and 4064 with similar results . Did better with factory American eagal so far .

55 grain bullet. 25 grains WC735 bulk surplus powder. WSR primer. Any casing.

BenchMark powder if you have some. It's very good. I can't remember any of my loads off hand though.

I've actually had very good luck with IMR4064 and 55 gr. jsp.

Try right around 26.5 gr., or depending on the brand of brass, fill until about 1/3 of the neck remains empty to receive the bullet. In other words, compressed, but not severely so.

Another good powder with 55 jsp is WW748 but I don't recall the load....and I THINK WW748 is the same as H335, but check that on your powder chart, because I'm not sure I'm remembering that correctly.

There is lots of room for the bullet. I am noit sure if it is even a compressed load and if it is, it is just baely compressed.

Winchester case, CCI small rifle primer, 26 grains varget, 50 gr vmax.
I screwed around with 60 and even 69 gran bullets, but 50 gr vmax is my one all rounder now. Shot a gopher at 216 yards(laser) last year, I'm stockpiling right now!

In my axis. 25.7gr varget with either 50gr nosler b-tip or hornady 53gr vmax. 27.4gr of varget and 36gr varmint grenades does alright as well

My best luck has been with win 748 and mag primers. I'm using 26.5 gr of it and a 50 gr barns varmit grenade in my Swiss arms. I'm well under an inch and average of 3150fps. Not bad for a 20" pipe.

My Axis likes 53 gr. Hornaday Match with 19 gr. H4198 in Federal cases. Best group, 5 shots in .625 of an inch at a hundred yards. It averages .750.

My Savage FV likes 25 grains of Varget and Hornady 68 grain match bullets and CCI bench rest primers with Federal brass.
Amazingly accurate.

52 gr Nosler BTHP pushed by 26grs of Varget small rifle primer 3 for 3 on yotes between 155 and 197 yds (ranged). All 3 were through and through and DRT.
