Yep... pretty much impossible to get your hands on .303 ammo...

The .303 is a great big game cartridge. Arguing that a .308Win is vastly better is pretty STUPID in my opinion.

Marlin 336 in .30-30. Small and handy rifle, and with practice a speedy follow up. From what I remember about Australia there were quite a few open spaces. Using LeverEvolution rounds should enable you to take advantage of any opportunity at reasonable distances.
Although a Ruger in .303 would be pretty sweet...

I think since the OP provided a list of rifles, that is what he has to chose from. Don't think he is looking for recommendations for a new one. Or maybe I read it wrong.

i'd drop the 307 winchester as still makes ammo for it-the 30-30 is a natural choice as is the 356- the 375 is in the same boat-hard to come by ammo however, the 303 brit is no slouch,and those that say it's hard to get ammo for 303 brit haven't been looking in the right place-
