Can anyone confirm, are these Laminated SKS guns from SFRC a floating firing pin or a spring loaded pin?
As the retail is $299.

Thanks.

From my experience all the surplus SKS rifles have a floating pin, the spring is an aftermarket add on if you choose to want one.

I think some years had a spring. The Murray spring kit is a peace of ####. My spring melted within 30 rounds. You don't need it. Keep your bolt and pin clean. Shake it every time you clean it to insure it moves.

Only half true, any that are year 1949-1950, and a few early 1951 will usually have a spring loaded firing pin, anything 1951 and onward should be floating. Only exceptions would be if a bolt from one got mixed about with a different year during refurbishment.

I have a 1952r Russian and it has a springed pin. I was told most Russian refurbs do. Will SFRC not respond to your question?

Am I reading this correctly? You have no idea of a feature of a firearm you're selling?

Really, jughead, they aren't going to take apart every sks to see what each one has for a firing pin, when it makes no difference to the operation or cost of the item! Maybe if you ask nicely they will put aside a 1950 for you!

Maybe it's a challenge for you to check so I guess you have a point.

When I first started shooting I ordered a SKS then sourced out a supplier in the USA for a spring mod kit. Then I did more research and realized all that slam fire fear was silly. Clean your gun. Check that the firing pin easily moves back and forth with the tap of your finger. Pit your rifle back together and shoot. Next time you clean it make sure the pin moves. If your paranoid check it before every shooting session.
Rifles made after 1950 in Russia by standard manufacturer specs has a free floating firing pin. Less to loose, clean and replace. Millions of them are made to shoot without the spring I think the Rusians knew it wasn't necessary.
