Your thoughts on the 802 Plinkster from Mossberg

Hello folks,

I am looking to pick up a cheap bolt action .22LR for me and the little one to shoot for fun.

I see that WholeSale Sports Outfitters has an 802 PLINKSTER that is bolt action, made by Mossberg Arms, and is very affordable at only $130.

Can you guys offer me your thoughts on the gun as well as the retailer?

Called and asked about mags and rifle.

None in stock, both on order.

Gun is $130, spare mags are $15.

I don't own an 802 but was thinking about a purchase of one for a Christmas present.
Just looking at all the angles first.

I have the 702 semi and it is a great little rifle. The only downside is that no high capacity mags available for it.

Don't quote me but I believe that the 802 doesn't have high cap mags available either.

I had the Plinker semi and also have the the Marlin795, and in my opinion the 795 is way better. I got rid of the plinkster real quick.

I had a look at this one online too ...

I am looking for a bolt action for the time being. Something to learn with and something the family can learn with too.

Are there hi-cap mags out for the 795? Most of what I see is for the 10/22 platform.

I'm glad to hear you're happy with your 702.

From what I have found, you're right. No hi-cap mags.

It's worth noting that I am going with a bolt action .22 on purpose and a high-cap magazine is not important for me on this purchase.

I got the gun on Nov 11 and put some rounds thru it over the weekend. Break in is not completely finished, but it's getting there.

The scope that came with it is junk, so I removed it and went with the factory sights.

I shot it with a some friends and had a lot of fun.

We sell the 802 in our store and i would not want one even if it was given to me,the quality control is horible.Get something else.
