Your thoughts on the Nornico M14 (305)

Go for it!

I've got one on order from Marstar(STILL WAITING!!!!)(HURRY,HURRY,HURRY!)
Buy a Lee breach lock reloading kit.(I reload for my Garand and its HALF the fun of shooting!) The kit is cheep yet still makes great ammo. 1-1.5 groups with new Wilson barrel.
Then get out and shoot!

i could take it or leave it, i got a good deal from my friend on it but it's kinda heavy, and i don't like the sights. and if you mount a scope it's a nightmare with cheekweld.

HEAVY!?!?! .... These are MANLY guns, if it's an ounce under 9lbs I just don't want to shoot it! Anyone can whip out a 5 lb hunting rifle and shoot MOA groups, but only the guys and gals that dare try it with the big heavies really LIVE! :D
If that's wrong I don't want to be right.

I had to upgrade my chu stock to USGI thus year. The temperature changes and humidity was wrecking havoc on my POI. But yes indeed, out of the box, as Hungry said, the Norc kicks butt.

I didn't buy two but you should if you can. BTW it's the only center rifle I own. Other than the IPSC and Service Condition matches, I take it deer hunting too :). I seriously got my return on investment with the Norc...and then some.

My next challenge for the Norc, precision rifle match on September!! I get to shoot it past 500 meters. 800 meters here I come!! If I hit target, even inners or magpies, I'll be happy.

I think they're great. I started out with one with iron sights and it shoot so well at 200 yards that I had to scope it to see just how accurate it was. It shoots very well with 308 hunting ammo. I missed the iron sights so I bought another one and have installed NM front sight, rear aperture and a garand rear sight mechanism on it. Its a lot of fun hitting a gong at 200 yards with it. With surplus ammo the results are somewhat variable and disappointing. 3" to 6" groups at 100 yard, depending on the ammo. With standard Federal 150 grain ammo it shoots under 1.5" at 100 yards. It shoots about that at 200 with the Federal Premium vital shok ammo. Really impressed. Used it as my backup gun for deer hunting last year and ended up shooting one with it. Just fine for sitting at a covered stand. Needs a good tactical sling if you are going to walk with it. Put on a cheek rest if you are going to use a scope.
