My GF's brother is going to school in Thunder Bay. A while back he entered a shooting competition and placed 3rd out of 25. I was ecstatic when I heard he won a Tikka Whitetail Hunter in .30-06. Not a bad prize for 3rd. Anyways I just recently found out that when he went to collect his prize at the gun shop he opted for a Remington 7400 with a free case, box of shells and Redot. The best part is, the shop kept the Tikka and he paid an additional $400 for the Rem:confused:. Apparently he made this decision upon advice from his uncle. I was a little disappointed as I told him that I wanted to buy the Tikka from him:( Any comments on this transaction?

The guy in that shop is a little crooked.

Maybe "a little" crooked, but lackeyse's girlfreind's brother is a lot stupid.

Tikka proven worth $700 + cash $400 = Remington 7400?!

A new 7400 lists at Wholesale sports in various versions for $549 to $589. That would have to be a really, really nice case thrown it with it.

classic ontario advice he got before going to pick up the Tikka

do ya think?

Uncle:
" Ya can't kill a deer in ON without a semi, boy. Mine hits a 5 gallon pail at 50 feet every year. Can't beat that."

Nephew:
"That's great, I gotta get one!"
:50cal:

Sad part is someone on here woulda gave him a used semi + $300 for the Tikka.:p

It's sad, but I understand the rational for his choice. Around here the most popular rifles are semi's and levers. I have hunted at various camps and I take a lot of slack from the "GANG" who think I am retarded for bringing a bolt to camp. His decision was based on family camp tradition. He sent pics of his new rifle and it looks beautiful.

the TIkka may be worth $700 to someone who wants it, but if this gun shop is in the heart of semi auto land, the gunshop owner may of figured it'd be a hard sell?

either way its a dumb choice by the guy who won the tikka
