Ask twenty guys for their opinon on this forum and you get thirty responses, all different. (sic)
I think I have trouble selecting which of my handguns are most accurate. I would have to say that we have a 686 with a red dot sight on it and it puts the bullets through the same hole at 15 yards and shoots really well at 25. It is customized for target shooting.
Then there is my HK P7M8 (I have two of them). They are both dead accurate and more importantly, for my applications, they are dead accurate on the first rapid shot and on subsequent shots (i.e. quick recovery, quick target acquisiting, reduced flip at the muzzle, etc.) I would suggest this is due to the rather unique inline gas discharge system plus the fixed barrel. The gun is thin, built like a tank and easy to carry concealed (stateside) any which way you want (if you can find leather for it to suit... I have spent several months buying and trying holsters but that's another topic). SO... for concealed carry I would have to say the HK P7M8 and I am just waiting to try out the P7PSP's that I have and imagine they are the same.
We also have a pair of FAS target pistols, the 602 and 603 with target grips. Dead accurate and the target grips permit a target hold allowing shooting with one hand - dead accurate, little flip. I like them a whole lot.
And on it goes. We have a Kimber Target II Stainless in 9mm and it is also dead accurate. Far more accurate that I so that I need to put the gun into a gun holder in order to really get a read on its accuracy, but from shooting handheld? It is indeed dead accurate.
I have a number of 22 calibre pistols/revolvers and am having trouble deciding which is most accurate. A S&W K22... dead to nuts accurate. Just picked up a few others that we have too little experience with to pass judgement. And it is tough... as they all shoot better than I am able to.... A Ransom rest or equivilant is needed to determine empirically the accuracy. And then the accuracy seems to vary with different loads; of which I have a safe full.
So guys, I take note of the opinions with great interest and intent to try some of the guns mentioned, but I humbly submit that it is a very tough call without going to a scientific environment like a Ransom Rest, Chronograph, etc., so that one is comparing apples to apples and getting accurate and consistent results.
I hate this thread by the way! I am now determined to go out and buy some of the guns mentioned in order to try them out for myself and have some fun. And that, after all, is what this is all about is it not?
Thanks to everyone who submitted an opinion, especially those that sent in pictures.
