Some guy's don't get it at alll do they......you know if you ship that 870 with a loaded mag, you can make the box smaller and the buyer saves $3.75 in shipping.....Morons....ha...ha...Why won't you break the law for a total stranger ?...he'd probably leave positive feedback....or attend your trial....:)

That about sums it up. If someone can get a pile of cash from a overpriced item, so be it.

Myself, I tend to price my stuff to sell because I can't be bothered to babysit a for sale ad. And my stuff usually goes within hours of posting.

To each his own.

And yes people who don't keep a prompt dialogue going once it has been initiated are annoying as hell.
 
How about $250, 9mm colt mags? :eek:

Or SKS D's that are priced out almost as much as a brand new CS858.

Which would go nice with a $110, SKS receiver cover scope mount that is actually $30 USD shipped.

If you do post a "what's it worth" question put in as much information as you can. My favourite was the asshat who posted nothing more than "I have an Ithaca shotgun. What's it worth?" :rolleyes:
 
Caveat emptor. All I want is a freakin' trader rating but I won't pay more than .5x new price for used stuff. I'll soon be selling 7RM dies brass and bullets but local only as the horror stories AP mailing stuff makes it a waste of time. Happy trading folks and where's the friggin smilies?

Hi, I have got a lot of good deals off CGN and gave a lot of good deals myself. As for the "prices" being considered inflated on some guns, a gun is worth what the buyer will pay. If you think it's to expensive...then don't buy it.:rolleyes: Someone else always does or it stays with the potential seller.

There are those who like to breed moths in their wallets and like complaining that everything is over priced. I've had the old cheapie's PM me wanting to pay $300.00 for a mint Rem 700, ...give your head a shake. :runaway:

It's been my observation that some members think their stuff is worth $5000.00 when trying to sell,...but think everbody elses stuff is worth $50.00 if they are wanting to buy.

The real (my opinion) change I'd like to see on CGN is a WTB forum all on its own. Get the WTB out of the area that actually has guns for sale in it.

I think it would be nice to see a "want to trade" section so that it doesnt clutter the for sale posts.

I have lots of rifles etc. that I would like to trade but sometimes dont always know exactly what I am looking for. It would be nice to be able to have open to trades(sometimes we dont always know exactly what we want to trade for), but as of right now posting "open to trades" is against the EE rules unless you post specifics of what you want to trade for.

That is the way I understand it atleast, maybe I am wrong :confused:
 
Some people post WTB's with out even looking in the forum to see if it's already for sale. I think a dedicated WTB section would be a great addition. Maybe make them Sub-forums at the top of each EE Section, like the SKS section in MILSURP. It would help unclutter the pages and keep seller items up on the front page longer.
 
This is bound to cause bad feelings but here we go. If you think a price being asked for a gun is too much then don't buy it and don't ask the seller for pics. I have given out more pics to people who have no intention of buying and have nothing better to do than waste my time just wanting to see what a gun looks like. If you are not looking for a particular gun to begin with, then you are just wasting my time and I find it hard to believe that you are serious. (hence the pics to serious enquiries). Don't expect someone to finance your dreams by selling you a gun at less than market value, so you can resell it to your buddy or someone else at more than you paid for it as one poster has already indicated he did and then piss and moan about high prices being asked for used guns. If you can't afford it don't buy it.
If people are offended, and it appears some are, that someone following the rules bumps their merchandise every seven days over the course of a few weeks then take that up with the MODS and get the forum rules changed. Perhaps stricter enforcement of the existing rules would rid the EE of abusers of the failure to edit/btt scenario.
Condition is what sells. If you can't afford that condition then go buy somewhere else. This is a free market and supply and demand will determine the selling prices.

I didn't really start the thread talking about "less than fair market value", what I was saying is why are some people doubling fair market value?

If you don't believe me I've got a Savage 99F here in 300 Savage I'll sell ya right now for $900.;) :D

BTW, Skullboy has already been at the EE rules and did some modifying.:)

I totally agree with that. I went through that whole deal sending out pics to guys that where not anywhere interested in buying a gun. Sometimes I would get back to my PC and there would be 5-6 requests for pics and half of those fellows don't have te good manners to say "thanks" or even reply. :mad:

SO .......... Given that situation, if you are a seller who is SERIOUS about SELLING guns and or other stuff, learn how to take LOTS of GOOD quality pics and learn how to POST those pics for all to view. It saves ALOT of hassle, sells stuff ALOT faster with ALOT less hassle.

So what mystical heretofore unknown psychic ability do you possess that tells you whether a buyer is serious when he probably doesn't know himself that he's serious until he sees the pics? Or is it because he doesn't buy your gun after asking for pics you conclude he's not serious?:rolleyes:

If you don't want to be bothered sending pics then don't. Don't whine about sending pics if you do and people don't buy the gun. Or learn how to post them on the site. It's so easy even I know how to do it.:p

Well said Paul. Whenever I sell something now, I always post a picture or two or three. It really cust down on the 'requests'. Granted, some people might want to see different angles and such, which I don't mind as long as they are somewhat serious. I also expect the 'tire kickers' and 'low ballers' to show up - especially on rifles.

In my opinion Savage never made anything worth 1/3 that much brand new or used. But that is just MY opinion. I am sure someone will disagree and that HIS opinion. If that is what you want for it then fine I am not interested to begin with and am certainly not going to ask for pics to see what makes this Savage special. I am trying to make the point here that if that is what you are asking then all the luck in the world. I certainly doubt you would get that price but who am I to say. I realize that you are being hypothetical about the $900. But if you weren't then....?:)
 
Claybuster, I think a serious buyer will acknowledge that he received the pics and make a resonable offer or let you know that he is not interested. Nobody is whining and sarcasm falls on deaf ears. And I mean that truly.
