No that's not a serious buyer. It's a courteous individual. I've asked for pics many times and always told the seller that I wasn't interested and before learning how to post pics here sent pics by email without hearing back. I don't complain about it or whine about my time being wasted or demand that sellers be serious.:rolleyes:

Of course your definition of who is serious and who isn't seems to be shifting.

So by the standards of Gerald I have to be already looking for a particular gun to be serious? It doesn't work that way for me. I buy a lot of guns on whim. They come up, I'm interested in learning more and then decide. I don't have a specific list of guns I am "looking for."

BTW, do you apply the same standards to yourself? Ever asked to see a gun in a store and had no intention of buying it at the time?
 
I post pics of any firearms I am trying to sell, usually just an overall view of the firearm. I also take pics of any problem areas or details that I think the buyer needs to know about, these get sent with the first PM response. This seems to work out very well keeping the number of pics down on the original post for dial up users, and allowing prospective buyers to see the details.

Pics limit the number of "tire kickers" and firearms sell way faster with them rather than without. I have only bought one firearm without pics off this site from the many I have bought, and it had an excellent description and I had delt with the member previously. Posting pics the first time actually saves you time.

I find my tastes & interests developing all the time. I have my old standby interests but once in awhile I'll go out on a whim & pick up something unusual [for me]. Right now the departure, for me, seems to be milsurps & interesting S&W wheelguns.
 
my biggest complaint about the EE is the the good stuff at a nice price is always "SPF" before i see it.

as to people asking too much (ie full retail or even more!) that is their choice and if someone can't look at a wholesale sports catelogue (available online) or at marstar's website or where ever and pays more than they should, that is their problem, and hopefully. it is a learning experience.

when i sell something, i start a little high because you can't negotiate a price up and if i want to see it the price will got down until someone buys it.

Exactly!

A picture is worth a thousand words and it takes no great effort to post one. It also save the seller from spending time sending out photos to several different potential buys as well as saving those potential buyers' some time.

Also comments like: "No pics but it looks like every other Model 700" causes me to hit the back button on my browser so I can look somewhere else.



Other things that help me keep my wallet in my pocket ............

Extremely out of line prices. Sellers who try and justify their prices by listing every penny they spent acquiring an item cause me to ignore the add. Come on! Who really cares that your local gun shop screwed you by charging you 30% more than you could have mail-ordered the item for? Don't try and convince me that you are offering a good deal because you are asking only 15% over retail. :rolleyes:

Rare items. A WW-1 era Enfield with the hand-cut checkering embossed with a screwdriver by your Great-Grandfather may hold sentimental value to you but to me it is just another old battle rifle Bubba got hold of.

Limited time offers. The "Buy it before midnight or back in the locker she goes" makes me think the seller is not serious so why should I waste my time. Somehow some sellers think they are doing YOU a favour by selling to you.

Condition. The gun listed as being in As-New condition except for the spot on the stock the size of a hockey puck where the gun fell on the concrete floor. The price however doesn't reflect the damage as it can be "polished out" easily. :confused:

Holy buckaroo! Hahahaha. On the rimfire side of the EE prices are getting crazy lately. Especially on CZ rifles. The most insulting is when a seller is trying to make you swallow that his rifle is SO rare and SO this and SO that and they sell for that$ today and bla bla and bla bla... No, sorry, even more maybe not insulting but discouraging, is that some people pay those crazy prices. PLEASE stop paying people who are ripping you off!!! Lets keep the prices where they are supposed to be for everybody's sake and it will help people with a little less budget still being able to enjoy this great activity.

This thread is a little out of date.....but the same applies now as it did then with very high EE prices.....some things never change . Luckily , Canada operates with a free enterprise system ; if you like it , buy. it....if not , there are lots of other firearms out there for sale....ENJOY !
 
People put threads up like this all the time #####ing about the crazy prices on the EE and they usually get locked. Which is sad as new people to the forum may not get a chance to read the comments and educate themselves. This one prob wont get locked as a Mod started it. Im just saying double standard here or what?
 
Or the dirty rotton scoundrel whom starts a WTS and a few days later changes it to a WTB ad and then
relists their WTS again jumping the knewgie.
Not sure if this is legal or not, but it sure gits me gander up.
Every time these tards do this, it puts another seller on the next page.
Those that continuously do this should get a time out on the EE.............fruckers.
 
Well Ive read all 12 pages of the posts and heres what I take from it.............We are paying way to much from the dealers for our guns...OR they depreciate horribly !! I bought an SKS localy for $229 +tax + a tapco mag.= $280.00 ..I never fired a shot out of it...advertised it for $250 shipped and got offered $150 !!!Sooo, buy taking it home, and spending 3 hours cleaning it,..I loose $130 BUCKS !! Then I buy a CQ locally for $699 + taxes =$725....then another distributer sells the same rifle a week later for $529.....I now put myCQ on the EE and take a brutal beating !! I get offered $500 for a gun I just paid $725 for. Theres NO money in buying and selling fire arms, exept for the dealers,..and if your buying guns for any kind of investment...well you can see where this is going. My eyes were really opened when a friend of mine bought a 1911 fron the dealer for $369, then decided he wanted a nicer gun and wanted to upgrade, he was told this..."My cost on that gun is $280, so that's all I can give you on trade - 20% for restocking" The gun never left the store,,It went from 369 to $224.
