What's out there for a youth 22lr bolt action. Not a single shot. My boy is 8 he has a 10/22 with an ar style stock so he can adjust it but lately he has taking a shine to the bolt action but ofcourse to big for him. Is there anything out there that's not single shot? Tia!

CZ 452 Scout. Great little rifle and very accurate.
Full size action, shorter stock and barrel. Comes with a single shot adapter in the magwell but it's easy to buy some 5 or 10 round mags for it.
I think CZ might still make the newer 455 version.

Ruger American Compact is pretty darn compact.
One could find the long rear stock insert when the time comes.
They are accurate and a bit cheaper than the Scout.
Tad on the weighty side though.

A Henry Youth lever is a great little rifle if yer yun'un has considered such a kritter.
Nice easy throw, decent trigger and the one'ear is accurate 'nuff to be fun.

We have a CZ455 Scout with a Bushnell red dot on it... my 10 year old munchkin loves it.

Couple things to be aware of:
As mentioned it only comes with a single shot adapter thingee - fits my BRNO 22 mags just fine.
Does NOT come with sling swivel studs - which was a disappointment for when we went for grouse - had some installed.
The mag release is in front of the mag and if your munchkin leans up again something to shoot (tree branch, fence post, whatever) it WILL drop the mag. Stupid place for a mag release.
Wood stock is nice as an "heriloom" but for a youth gun it is a bit heavy (we just fondled the savage minimalist at the store - that is way lighter, but too big a stock for him and obviously of lower quality).
Rear site was not properly installed when we bought it - fell out first time in the field (but we went to a red dot anyway).

Super Crisp trigger. Honest 1.0 to 1.5 MOA (e.g. 1/2 an inch at 50 yards).

Would definately buy again, but would also have no problem #####ing to CZ about that stupid mag release.

Already outdated

457 scout is out

I bought a Savage Mark II GY for my son. It’s a youth rifle with a smaller stock and LOP. It shares mags with the larger Savage rifles. It’s a good accurate gun at a nice low price. For my other son I got a Savage B22 compact. It’s fits him well, but the mags are tricky for him to load by himself.

Another Vote for the CZ scout, bought one for my daughter to progress on to from her Henry Single shot rifle. Its a nice compact youth sized rifle, slightly larger than the Henry single shot. I have lots of CZ products so it made sense since I already had all the magazines etc...

Plus as a dad you deserve a CZ trainer or Premium CZ457 because of your wise purchase and to shoot the same style rifle as your child.
