Hey all, I'm looking for a shotgun for my son, I'm planning on taking him to the US in the spring after turkeys. He can use a 410 with 3" shells without flinching, but I want something that he can practice with and pattern without being scared of it. I'm leaning toward a semi in 20 gauge, but hoping for some input.

He's 10 years old and about 100 pounds.

Thanks for the help.

To lighten recoil you don't need heavy shot charges to kill turkey. #6 shot 3/4oz loads will work just fine in a 12 or 20ga. Aim for neck and head. Mossberg has the sa20 youth model. Beretta has the 391 urika

Ppl say you need 3.5" 12ga. Not true. Mostly I use 7/8oz #6 shot. My guns pattern this load well and I've never needed a second shot on any turkey. Good luck
