This fellow is a good shot. He shot the triangular metal target at 550 yards. Wnchester 94 are known as deer rifles or meat getters but this rifle combined with good cartridges makes it a better rifle than most thought. Of course this feat may not be repeatable but it does show that perhaps the Winchester 94 is more capable than most people believe.

Hornady's own ballistic charts and calculator for the 160 gr FTX cites a drop of 10.3 feet at 500 yards. Good shot indeed.

Pretty good shooting. You can make some amazing long range hits with rainbow trajectory rifles if you can shoot and are firing at a known distance but it doesn't make them effective choices for long range hunting. Personally I am not enamored of the Leverevolution ammo. It works fine but due to Hornady's advertising hype the uninitiated seem to think they can turn their .30/30 into a .30/06. The .30/30 class of cartridges are very effective on deer size game out to 200 yards or a little more no matter what type of ammo they are fed.

Yep. There is luck and there is skill and it behooves us to be honest with ourselves as to which is which. As for the cretins and duffers we hang out with at the rod and gun club - honesty is probably NOT the best way to deal with that manky lot!:)

True accuracy is repeatable.

Pretty cool target shooting.

Enough practice with and he is good for some distance.

I hunt with a win 94 built in 1969 using iron sights and the winchester 170gn flat nosed ammo.

This gun to me is like a cool old hot rod. The hornady ammo just seams to high tech for this gun. Like putting a jap engine in a old camaro.

That's great ammo but ill leave it for the scoped marlins

I agree, and i like your analogy. I killed my first head of big game (moose) with a thirty-thirty / 94.
