I went to the shooting range the other day and tried using some commercial north american 8mm hunting ammunition (150gr). This seemed to pretty much fix the problems I was talking about initially, the groupings were consistent but still high, this time by only about 3 to 4 inches. I'm sure if I played around with some handloads, or maybe even some 127gr rounds this gun could shoot dead nuts. I'll try and avoid the 196gr S&B from now on, it doesnt seem to be a practical round at such close ranges.
