Yugo SKS, Better than Norc?

Depends, on what you mean by better.

The fit and finish of most Yugo is better than most Norcs.

However, the Yugo does not come with a chrome lined barrel, so if your shooting the corrisive Czech ammo, make sure you clean it EVERYTIME you finish shooting it, or it will eat up the Yugo SKS.

With either you have to clean the gas tube. It can rust up pretty quick as well.

The Yugos are nicer, (fit, finish, wood), but they both shoot the same.

I'd say the Yugo is more "collectable" as far as an SKS can be collectable, but the Norinco is better value if you just want to shoot something (it's cheaper and chrome lined). You're going to have to clean your rifle when shooting with corrisive ammo, although I'd hope most people would clean their rifle even with non-corrisive so I don't really see that as a huge issue. Personally - I own a Yugo, but I'd take a Norinco if the price was right.

Another advantage of the Yugos is that they have better wood stocks, and are slightly longer....which equates to a better length of pull. The M66B, with beech stock, grenade launcher and rubber butt-pad is not really a carbine at all, but a full length rifle.

Nothing wrong wrong with a Nork. Use the couple bucks saved, spend it on ammo and go frolick at the range

+1 for the price difference you can buy a case rounds. The yugo's are nice but let's be honest here, no one's buying an sks for it's accuracy....

Now if you were to buy a golf ball launcher attachment for the yugo grenade launcher...that's a whole different ball game :D

Thanks for the info,is hot water a must, or will hops no 9 for
a cleaner and a bore snake do the trick. Thanks 375rum

Regular solvents don't work on the salts produced in corrosive ammo, but amazingly Windex glass cleaner does. After doing the Windex thing, just clean as usual and you're good to go.

The Yugo M-59 is definitely a cut above the Norinco in terms of fit and finish. As others have mentioned the stocks are longer, which is a bonus for many.

Yugo M-59 rifles have forged receivers and other components rather than the stamped steel common to their Chinese counterparts.

I don't think either is a bad choice. The Yugo rifle is better and costs more than the Norinco. Both have their place on the market. Whichever you choose, make very certain your new purchase is covered by a guarantee (some sellers don't offer any, believe it or not).

Hope this helps,

- Peter

Sks

I now have both a yugo from marstar,I really like the fit and
finish and a norc from this site ,an older one with the blade
bayonet that is in pretty much mint condition,I shoot the
norc silver box in the yugo and corrosive in the norc.I have
followed your cleaning tips and no problems so far:) I find
they shoot about the same and like both equally well.
Thanks for all the replies.Regards 375rum
