Zaaaaap! Thread gone!

I think the site sponsor (can I name names?) was worried about the backlash and financial repercussions if his advertised non corrosive ammo turns out to be corrosive.

How do you test it? Remove the bullet and powder from a few rounds and fire at a bare piece of steel plate from a few inches away and put the steel plate outside for a few days and see if the area rusts more quickly than surrounding areas?

That would hardly be the first time a thread's been zapped around here.

I can recall a heated thread a day or two ahead of the last federal election disappear (never got to see if my last post succeeded in stirring any pots)! There was also a thread with pics several months back speculating upon whether a certain shipment of firearms contained CAs, and just a few weeks ago there was a thread started by someone asking about private militias in Canada that also seems to have dissappeared into the ether.....Just saying....

I'll say it again. I've had some Chinese surplus with that exact headstamp that was mildly corrosive. Not bad at all, but you could smell it especially when you cleaned the rifles.

Nowhere near as raunchy as the 1964 headstamped Chinese stuff I'm shooting now, but it was corrosive without a doubt. Maybe there's different versions of it out there or something.

So you are saying that in the past posts that are outside of the rule set are nuked........

WOW!!

Call the press!!

Fair enough. Since the theads were nuked, not simply locked, I didn't have any way of seeing what caused their demise, so I'm simply pointing out that they dissappeared.

I can appreciate the mods not wanting to keep really nasty threads up for everyone and anyone to see, but when a thread begins on a legitimate note and dissappears later, the people who've followed or posted earlier are naturally going to be curious about what happened since their last check in. That's all I meant to say.

The Ammo in question is sold to us as Non-Corrosive from our distributor, who is also a reputable source. We did not do any kind of in house testing when the ammo first came in. We sell the product to our customers as it is sold to us, as Non-Corrosive.

We did Corrosive testing on this ammo on Saturday (Bullet pulled and the empty case fired with the barrel against piece of steel). There was no corrosion on the steel after been exposted to water 8 hours later.

There was a couple of cases ware copper washed corrosive ammo was mixed in with the Green case, but that was resolved.

We have been made aware of 2 cases in which the green cased 7.62x39mm non-corrosive has caused rust (Of 170 cases sold to date). In the one case the firearm was not cleaned for an extensive period of time. Ironically no one has called the store or emailed, only posted on CGN.

When a thread gets started and claims are made that we are lying, ripping people off, and mislabling product, we reserve the right right to delete it. No company rents sign space for the purpose having mis-information spread. When someone posts "Its definitely corrosive" based on none of their own testing and only on what they think or have heard, we do not allow that stay on a public fourm.

If anyone believes that they recieved corrosive ammunition please send us an email with pictures of the crate, ammunition casing, and headstamp to info@frontierfirearms.ca

To each their own. I never would have bought the stuff if I knew the powder was going to be so dirty or sooty and collect moisture like it does. The barrel of my CZ 858 was starting to rust inside and I've never had that kind of problem with any of my other guns.

Norinco is not noted for consistancy or quality. It is very possible that there was a mix up of ammo lots at some point somewhere. If you use Norinco just assume it might be corrosive.
FWIW we opened a crate of the older Norinco ammo to use on the range and it was filled with 12.7mm cartridges.
