Zahal SKS receiver scope mount

There is a trick with these mounts to keeping zero especially with disassembly.

Remove the 4 bolts and use a drill to make dimples in the receiver, bolts will lock in and not move in hard use. Then lock tight the two bolts on one side so it will always reseat back to "zero when you remove and reinstall it

Yes totally. The mount provided bolts are tipped to leave an imprint thus creating a locking hole on the Sks receiver. Well that was my observation anyways. Holds zero, happy customer.

no back up sights on sks completely ruins sks idea
unless you are just specifically creating fun only plinking rifle

in regards to sks-d, if you want to accept ak mags that ak style quick release for duck beak mags will work only for those, AK mags engage a bit differently (higher), also you would need to get a front lip and cut duck beak off the mag, then it will be kind of sks-d style, but not sks d
for sks d, you will need to do a major mod including special mag release different from what shown above, shave bolt, remove BHO etc etc

maybe someone has experience with adapting that ak style release to ak mags in sks...

Its an sks. Backup irons are hardly a requirement. They're all fun only plinking rifle... And I guess occasionally hunting rifle, which again doesn't need backup sights...

Interesting mount OP. What did it cost? Considering you've got the removable mags anyways, any reason you didn't go with a magwedge rail? That's what I settled on, wanted a scout mount but the magwedge doubles as a deflector and I was thinking about putting a real scope on it (currently wears a cheap red dot) to really see what kind of accuracy it's capable of, right now it's mostly used for banging gongs at 100...

Did you see the gas coming out of that bolt/ejection area Jason? Almost toxic to watch but nice can..

SO.. I just decided to order the ergonomic Zahal SKS folding rifle stock below and give it a try, if any one is interested on my Chinese wood stock, hand guard and AK mag release fire me a PM. (Added a picatinny rail for light, so it’s not original anymore).

Here’s my other past project, a year in the making and my favorite build thanks to Steve from EM Precision (Having gunsmiths as friends does pay off!)

My Chinese 18.5’’ barrelled SKS Paratrooper. It’s my truck gun actually, complete with $10 sling.

Thanks for the info but what is the MOUNT you used for the Sure-fire ?

Ordered a RS Regulate AK (Yugo) Light mount, modded for either the barrel or gas tube diameter of the SKS. It works but it wasn’t cheap and the product is tier one too.
