Zastava 7.62x39 M85?

nothing drops-in as the barrels are threaded. It would be pretty easy to do an M85 in the same fashion.
Ok, let me rephrase.... They make pre-threaded barrels so all that is needed is headspaced and final fitting rather then needing to cut a whole barrel from scratch.

It would still be cheaper to do the M85 with generic 6.5 barrel as it looks like the 6.5 cz barrels go for over $400 by the time you get them into Canada

I am after one of these...wanting it badly...BUT on my internet review searches I keep hearing that #1 the extractors are fragile and on top of that are small, multi piece ones and #2 to replace one of them is NOT easy (to find) nor cheap.

SO

If something happens...can you get a replacement part? And in a reasonable amount of time?

Is it true the M85's don't care for surplus ammo?

I've had no issues with surplus ammo with mine (got one of the full stock ones from Corwin-Arms last year). Take what you read on the interwebs with a grain of salt. I suspect that there are some out there that aren't great with surplus ammo, but the majority are fine. It's just the complainers make more waves online than people who are happy and just go out and shoot their guns, instead of spending their time being internet keyboard commandos.

I completely agree. I just wish I could see one first hand. My buddys all bought the CZ back when it was around $600 and now the local shop is ask for $950. I hear that the CZ are nicer then the Zastava but are they $400 nicer? The Zastava looks decent in a screen but I don't want to endup with a pretty Norinco JW-103. lol

The bolts are packed with heavy oil, I can see that causing ignition problems if you don't take it apart and clean it out.
The spring I'd definitely stiff enough for milsurp primers....

Does anyone have an ETA on the Magwedge rails for the M85? I'm foaming at the lips to get a scope up on this bad boy.

Or does anyone have a line on a 71A front mount. I have a rear mount already, but am missing the front.

Thanks,
Cal.

Cal, what do you have for a rear mount?! I've got the 71A for the front, but the 23 for the rear doesn't fit mine. The contour of the base is correct for the receiver, but the holes are spaced too far apart on the 23. I think you can find some 71A's on amazon, but I may be wrong. Worth a quick look I'd think. Thanks in advance for any info that anybody can give me on my rear base hunt. Good shooting, Toni.

Just a heads up for the next guy! I bought weaver bases number 71A and 23 for my Zastava M85. The front base (71A) fits properly. The rear base (23) does not! The contour is correct to match the receiver, but the holes on the base are spaced too far apart. Does any one else have this problem? If so, what base are you using for the rear? Can I just get away with using just the one hole? I don't want to do that. Should I modify the base to fit? It's not worth sending it back. Any help would be great. Thanks guys and gals. Good shooting, Toni. ps, otherwise the rifle has worked flawlessly for me and is quite accurate with the open sights.
I got the 71A and 23 bases for mine and they both fit perfectly.

303EppsFan, seems like Zastava has some quality control problems. I don't think mine was the only one that left the factory with the holes drilled in the wrong place. If anyone else has one of these rifles with the "different" hole spacing and found a rear base that fits, please let us know what base it is. I bought this rifle specifically to mount a scope on it. If I can't find a way to mount one soon, I'm going to have to sell it and look for an other bolt rifle in this cal. Any help/info that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and good shooting, Toni.
