Hi everyone. I bought a surplus M57 7.62x25. The front sight is misaligned to the left, and needs to be drifted to the right.
Can this front sight be tapped from either direction with a hammer and brass punch? Or should it only be drifted in one direction/ is it tapered? ie. if I need to drift it right, tap it all the way out from the left side, then re-seat and tap it in from the right.
So far I gave it a little tapping from left to right with a brass punch, light to moderate tapping didn't budge it. Don't want to give it more force without checking this first.
