Got out to the range yesterday and was testing out some loads in the Swede. Looking very promising.
And some are complaining about the twist rate!![]()
What is the rate of twist?
The synthetic stocks on these are typical cheaper plastic stocks. They are fairly rigid and the rifles shoot well in them so they work but aren't anything fancy. I do like the raised grip panels on them as they fit my hands well and provide a good grip when wet or cold. The recoil pad is as hard as a hens face but I've heard they are identical to a Remington pad so aftermarket should fit right on. I'm not sure on which model of Remington or if that is even true but might be worth looking into if you don't like the factory pad.I have been humming and hawing about one of these rifles. How do you find that synthetic stock?
Nice shooting by the way.
Does anyone make an aftermarket stock for these yet?
It's a commercial M98. The aftermarket is full of stocks and accessories for them.
There is no difference between these and any other commercial M98? I have to admit I am not all that knowledgeable on Mauser actions, though I think I would like to learn.
44grs of RL-22 must be giving you very pedestrian velocities. Just out of curiosity, have you chronoed them? I am just developing loads for my Voere with the same 120gr TTSX, but I started at 46gr of RL-22, which gives me close to 2,800fps. I haven't checked accuracy at 100m, yet.
