Just received my new Zastava MP22 22lr from Trade Ex (on for $299) fit and finish seem excellent for that price point.

Can't wait to try it out. Online reviews rave about the accuracy

Congratulations! A very good 22LR rifle. You made a good choice. It's a keeper. I mounted a cheap 3x red dot on my Zastava M22/Z5 (see pic) and it's a tack driver up to 50 yards.

Wow thats a good price. They are nornaly 399.

I have one and i love it. I got it on trade almost 6 months ago and since has sold off many of my other 22's. Handles nice, has some weight to it and i love the little click of the firing pin.

... i love the little click of the firing pin.

What do you mean by that?

They are good rifles for the price. I have the fullstock version and it shoots really nice. It likes the 36 grains HP mini mags for common available ammo best.

Mine was a bit rough out of the box. The trigger needed adjustment and the mags did not want to seat properly. I have also refinished the stock. Not a fan of the muddy oil finish.

^^^ mine was well used so its very smooth.

And i mean there is next to no weight being tranfered by the firing pin/back half the bolt. It fires like a striker fire does. Its a very short travel, light little click but has no issuess setting any ammo off. Most of my bolt 22's were ones that the whole back half of the bolt moves.

I bought one on sale but had to send it back. It had a couple of issues that were unacceptable. It was nicely finished and functioned smoothly but the mags were difficult to insert, never got around to looking at that problem.

Congrats on the new rifle!

As others have said, they're very accurate with the right ammo.
I have an older version, the CZ99 Precision. Mine was one of a bunch that were being sold used as surplus, probably from a school training program.

Some observations about them (may apply to current production as well.)
-The chamber seems to be a match chamber as opposed to the more common sporter chamber. You may have problems with HV ammo.
-Double extractors can be problematic, replacements are hard to find.
-Spare magazines can be hard to source. I'm not sure how Tradex is stocked with spare parts, but there are reports of folks converting Mossberg 702 magazines for use.

Not trying to put you off of it, I've had mine for a few years, and it's still one of my favourite rimfires.

I have one in 22 wmr and it is very accurate. I bedded the action, free floated the barrel and reinforced that forend work with a ¼" square stock steel rod and epoxy to really make sure it never warps. It was accurate before but this tightened it up even more and keeps things more consistent from one time to the next. I also am a fan of safeties that lock the bolt shut and these guns have a slot in the action above the safety that allows for this. I had a coworker weld a piece of 14 gauge mending bracket to the safety. I shaped the welded on piece to fit the slot and it works great. This is a great value little rifle that I will never sell. Maybe next I'll add a rosewood cap and tip with maple spacers, 2 screw swivel studs... A poor man's CZ my a$$ ;-)
