Zastava question M70 vs M98

No really;

The M/98 have the traditional bolt shroud mounted swing safety lever while the M/70 have the streamlined shroud, side safety and adjustable trigger. The M/98 can be ordered with or without double set, set or adjustable trigger but as a standard it comes with the single stage Mauser trigger.

Check out your user manuals, boyz!

Okay, but I was going by the for sale listings info on the T.E.C Trade Ex Canada Inc. website which is who I purchased mine from. A typical listing describing the model is as follows,
"Zastava Commercial M98 (M70)".

:confused::confused:
Just checked the T.E.C Trade Ex site again and in their Products Listings, under Hunting and Sporting Arms (New) , there are three pages with numerous references of Zastava Commercial M98 (M70) actioned rifles.
:confused::confused:

Yes, they are a commercial M98 action but Zastava calls them the M70. Zastava also used to list a M98 which, as Baribal mentioned earlier, retained the military style bolt shroud and safety.

I was kind of disappointed when they dropped the listing on their website recently. I wasn't really planning on buying one but it was just neat that a company was still building military styled actions in a hunting rifle.

Does any one remember if the Zastava M98 hunting rifles had the thumb cutout?

Edit: Yes, the M98 also had the military receiver wall with the thumb cutout. Google a few pics and answered my own question.

:redface:Sorry guys. My point of confusion and curiosity was in wondering why Trade Ex was listing them as a Zasatva Commericial M98 (M70).
It almost sounded as though it was another variation of the Mauser that was made to Zastava specs, therefore different from other examples available over the years.

Baribal,

you can get the m70 with trigger or double sets as the hog back but will the importer please you that is another story ....

Yes, I know, I was pointing the M/98 Model, not the M/70. The M/70 being a spinn-off of the Supreme, they come as a standard with an adjustable trigger.
