I bought a Zastava Arms M98 in 30-06 from Tradex. I put a Redfield Revolution 3-9x40 on it and took it to the range today.

Here's what it looks like. Looks pretty good I think. Nice grain on the walnut stock and deep rich bluing.

Here's how it did.

Okay, so that was only one group. I only shot one group with that load. The other load I tried was not as good, but it was with a brand of bullets that I never have good luck with.

But even if that group shown was a fluke, it still shows that this rifle has potential.

The grain on the wood is nice, the wood-to-metal fit is good. no gaps or anything that looks bad. The bolt cycles fine. It's a little rough, but it'll work in, I'm sure. All steel and walnut. NO plastic, and a genuine mauser 98 action.

I'd like a better recoil pad on it, and it's heavier than I usually like, but I find the shape of the stock very comfortable and with groups at less than 1/2 and inch at 100 yards, this will be a fun rifle to play with!

I've owned a Zastava 22LR for a while. Actually it's a Remington Model Five, but it's made by Zastava, and imported by Remington. It's a sweet rifle too. I bought it this spring, and it's accounted for several hundred gophers.

Here's the two brothers together

Gaddamnit. If I'd seen that particular rifle of yours when I was perusing the site, it would be in my safe, not yours...............Good eyes on ya.
Now, I've gotta get back on the site and look for an equally pretty grained rifle. Shyte.
Awesome group. Gonna have to copy that recipe of yours.

That is some very good grouping. How much of that is the rifle? Never considered them as accurate rifles.

Tradex sells the wood stocked version for $495 and synthetics go for $449. I was lucky enough to pick up a Charles Daly by Zastava recently for $319 brand new. I'll probably buy more of these mausers in the future.

Thanks. I think the rifle has to have something to do with it. If the rifle/load combo isn't up to the task, then I'm not good enough to correct for it. But like I said, it was only 1 group, so maybe it was a fluke.
I bought the gun because it's just a good solid reliable platform, and I liked the wood grain pattern. But I wasn't expecting that kind of grouping out of it either.
