I have a zastava m70 stainless synthetic. Nice rifle it has smoothed out considerably. The action feels bomb proof, the stock on the other hand feels very flimsy and flexible. I have been looking for a replacement wood or laminate but can't find one. Is there any way to make the existing stock more ridged? Does anyone on here know where to find a suitable replacement stock in either wood or laminate?

any whitworth stock will work except if it was for a 375hh.
boyds is doing a laminate one for the left handed version i do not know for the rh ones.

hope this is the start for you.

Mine is a right hand 30-06. Boyds doesn't make a right hand for some reason. I'll keep an eye out for a Whitworth mauser. In the meantime even just getting this stock more ridged will do. Just not sure the best way to do it

Try sourcing FN herstal mauser stock. I asked bored for it and they had it, only minor fitting for zastava

I fit a semi -inlet walnut stock from boyds last year to a friends stainless zastava. I took a lot of work. Full glass bed and custom pillars as well though. 2 weeks of evenings said and done

Ya I was thinking the same thing. Zastava made the Remington 798 and Charles daily and interarms were importers of zastava. I emailed Boyds a month or so ago and they were not clear if any other stock would b suitable for zastava m70. I might try a gamble and order one of those Remington or cd stocks and hope for the best. In the meantime I might just fill my stock with silicone and maybe bed the forestock

When you say " the stock feels flimsy" are you talking the whole stock or just that the forend has no " back bone" to it? That's a easy fix.

The for end has lots of flex. Makes contact with the barrel when shooting with it rested. The but is hollow and light. Throws the balance way off

The foreend is syppose to make contact with the barrel, weatherby feature....
The S1 stocks are a bit more plasticy then the later S2.
You could try a Hogue, they make a replacement that is free floated and a bit lighter

Got my threads mixed up lol

My rifle isn't a Weatherby. My other rifles with floating barrels do not make contact when I put the forestock on a bench, they remain floating. I have a Remington 700 with a factory synthetic stock I sanded it a bit for barrel relief and the stock is far more ridged. It shoots fantastic .6 to 1" groups. The zastava shoots well as long as I keep the pressure of the rest almost directly below the action. As soon as I rest it farther toward the end of the forestock my groups pretty much double in size.
